How charter is good for FLOPS

"All I can say is that it is going to be an interesting peak travel season. Can you say charter costs are going to sky rocket?"
Your comment to me said nothing about your quote above. If you're interested in making more money, how will that happen if you "sky rocket" the charter costs? Then there's less left over to pay you. Also, more unhappy owners that may go to NJ.
Here is how charter going up will equate to more money in my pocket. When management realizes it costs more for charter than to pay FLOPS pilots equivalent to their peers, the company will stop bleeding red. Management has a whole lot more to lose then the pilots do. We are not the ones making $500,000 a year like some senior management (which isn't that senior since most of us have been at FLOPS longer than them.) I, and most pilots at FLOPS can leave one crappy job for another, but why? We built this company and I am not going to let our current management run me off. Management will have a more difficult time finding an equivalent job than the pilots. With all that said, Management will do whatever it takes to save their jobs including paying its' pilots industry standard wages and benefits. Let the charter cost go though the roof. I am sure there are many charter companies that appreciate our business. Let us not forget that shortly after last holiday season Net Jets signed a TA. That didn't happen because all their pilots were team players and did favors for the company. Didn't I hear somewhere that Net Jets is showing a profit now even after the new raises and signing bonuses that the pilots received? I think that there is a direct connection between last holiday season with hundreds of disserviced owners and now showing a profit at Net Jets. I like FLOPS so much I think they deserve the same treatment.

Good post overall, FR8DOG777. Just one small correction: the NetJets TA came out just before the last holiday season, in October 2005. But you have the gist right: management was very worried about the Thanksgiving-to-New-Year's period last year. And they finally realized that charter cost a lot more than paying us a decent salary with good benefits.

My best wishest to you, FR8DOG777, and everyone else at FLOPS. Enjoy your holiday season.

Thanks for the correction GG. My point is still the same, the holiday season will make or break our contract. I will leave it up to management to do the correct thing and realize its biggest asset is it's employees.

You have many words, I see. But, What about upsetting so many owners that they and thier wealthy friends leave FLOPS? Then, nobody has a "crappy job" to complain about. It's like: "This bus I'm driving doesn't handle well, so I'll crash it. That'll fix it!" -or- "My dog doesn't respond the way I'd like him to when I call him, so I'll shoot him. That'll show him!". I realize pay and working conditions are an issue, but shooting your foot off because your shoe doesn't quite fit doesn't make sense. (Sorry, I'll stop with the metaphors). I've been reading your posts, FR8DOG777 and I appreciate that you want to make FLOPS a great place, let's just not brake it in the process.
Peace.

Here is a better way understanding. "This bus isn't driving so well, so I'm not driving it until it gets fixed. It will quickly be done when the owner realizes that renting another bus while I wait for mine to be fixed will be twice as expensive than if he would just fix the bus."

Or

" My dog doesn't listen to me. So instead i'm going to hit it on its snout so it realizes who to obey. After a couple of times of making her come I will reward her with a treat. If she doesn't listen to me no treat and a whack on the snout."

Nice editing. I see where you're coming from. You seem more reasonable than others. Some are radical and wish to crash the bus or shoot the dog. They should take your lead.

You know there is a diesel aircraft engine in the works?

Yes i've seen it looks pretty interesting.

Skanza,
You know the only one who has control if this company flops is management. It is entirely up to them to do the right thing and quickly if they want the bleeding to stop. The surface has only been scratched and if management doesn't cease the raping and pillaging against it's employees, then they get what they deserve. You may like your job, and if you are a pilot you will surely like to be paid comparable to the other fractional companies. I will not finance this company with my salary any longer. If FLOPS can't afford to pay it's pilots industry standard they they don't deserve to be in business. We are not here to finance the wealthiest people's mode of transportation, nor should we be expected to.

There's a whole website awaiting the arrival of diesel engines for aircraft: http://www.dieselair.com/

Thielert and SMA seem to be the two leading companies in diesel engine technology for aircraft.
