B Chef
I see you are on the bus, so frankly I am a little confused as to what all you problems are...

Read my profile to find out what airplane I am on. Pretty simple, may actually negate this last post.

I love that last part about the "guys on property less than a year." What was I thinking? We already have a union at jb. Who cares about the bottom 500 or so.

Look I am outta this one. I have better things to do. You dudes act like I killed your cat.

No no! with a little John Kerry spin it can apply to both, and your right you should have better things to do.
You last observation suggests this is really your 1st airline job.

The Chef has issues and you all want to send him away! The fact of the matter is JB is currently a have and have not airline. The A-320 Captains have, all else have not. Take a look at 12 year pay scales below. The JB rates are based on a Effective rate working 85 hours. However the Captain to FO percentage would not change at base pay.

Company Captain FO FO/Capt %

American 161 109 67%
Contin 144 98 68%
delta 149 102 68%
Northwest 159 108 67%
United 131 90 68%
US Air 138 91 65%
SWA 191 131 66%
Jetblue 150 89 59%

JB FO's are the least paid and make the least percentage of the captains they fly with. This is compounded with profit sharing (if and when we get any) and CSPP.

At this time, there are no 12 year F/Os on property, so it's a defective comparison... Our hopes are if it starts taking much longer to upgrade (12 years) then you're going to see those rates come up...

Blue Bayou,

It is taking longer to upgrade. We are only taking delivery of 12 Buses next year, not 17 and word is we will be returning 5 for a net gain of 7. DN has also stated that we will substantially slowing growth over the next three years. If you didn't upgrade last year before the RTP announcement, the upgrade time is currently 3 years and that will quickly go to 4 years. On third year scale, FO's make 52 % of a third year Captain. That number Goes up to 56% at year four.

My point is, All FO pay rates need to go up, not just on the 190.

"Hopefully", the pay group will fix this. Overall, I'm still very happy to be with JB. It is just painfull when management briefed us on upgrade times when making the decision to bid the 190 or stay on the bus. According to them, I should have been a Bus Captain 6 months ago. Now, I'll be very luck to get it next year. JB is still a good company but RTP and slowed growth hurts guys under 800 seniority. Longer upgrade times, longer reserve times, making less money longer, etc. This is a fact of life and some of us aren't overly excited about it but we still love Jetblue.

Reality check...

I'm amazed at the naivete and the lack of rational thought out there by some of these "professional" aviators (not naming names CHEF)...

From all the whining and bitching, the crying that "they told me this" and "now I can't upgrade" to "we're slowing growth and blah.. blah.. blah..."

Ask a Delta guy, UAL, US Airway's guy.... anyone in this industry if things went exactly as planned....

But the truth to this whole ridiculous whining fest is this.

If the company you work for doesn't have a sustainable business plan, a plan that allows it to compete, to grow, to weather downturns in the economy. There is absolutely no point to complaining about upgrade times or how much you make or how much someone else makes.
Look how far the mighty have fallen... Delta.. UAL.. PanAm...TWA...

We here at JetBlue need to ensure we give our company the tools it needs to succeed, to be the most efficient it can be. That doesn't mean being walked over by DN but I believe of all the management teams out there, we have the best (maybe SWA is best.. but they have 35 years on us).

Fact is... sounds like there are a lot of Blue Pilots that will not be happy with REALITY... so I suggest firing up your resumes and pursuing your pipe-dream somewhere else.
My step-brother is in the Plumbing/Airconditioning business and he's earning more than me and home every night. That's the future of professional aviation.

Another ray of light! Yet another pilot that "gets it."

Face it guys, the days of pilots making 100 grand a year are history. People like 8vATE are waking up and realizing that they should just be happy to have a job. The best way to preserve that job is to keep a well compensated executive team, complete with glistening golden parachutes, running the Blue machine. Of course, we will have to keep pilot pay at rock bottom to make my vision a reality, but obviously most of the Blue pilots are "on board."

I applaud the Blue pilots for blazing a trail of reform within the pilot ranks. Someone needs to set an example and LEAD the rest of the pilots in this country to the promised land. Low pay, back to back trans cons, 5 year "contracts", no union, and trash picking are just the beginning. I have all sorts of spectacular ideas for pilot productivity I think you guys will really like. I hope you all don't mind serving drinks with the Flight Attendants during cruise flight.

Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

Before I go, I would just like to give a verbal tongue lashing to all of the imposters that have popped up within the last week or so. People are coming on this board claiming to be Blue pilots, and then saying that they are dissatisfied with their work environment. This is obviously impossible, as I was told by several people on this board that all of the pilots are flying around in a cloud of euphoria at JBLU. No one would ever even think of leaving. Shame on all of you who think you can so easily fool the rest of us!
