Fact: TWA/OZ was DOH. However, the TWA MEC knew that a DOH integration was pretty much a staple job for 80% of the OZ pilots, since TWA had not hired since 1979 and the merger date was 1986. (OZ continued to hire during that time.) Therefore, what's the difference between having given them DOH or stapling 80% of their pilots? None. ALPA merger policy was not followed - it was a back door deal between the TWA MEC and Carl Icahn (sound familiar?) that never went to arbitration until the OZ guys sued over their furlough. In the end, the OZ boys got a pretty good deal out of it, since the widebody fence was only 7 years... in fact, the last TWA 747 flight was crewed by an OZ captain.

That said, a DOH integration between OZ/TWA and AA/TWA is a very different deal, and one that would have never happened, even with arbitration, given the size and financial differences of the two carriers. (Much the same way DOH won't happen for AWA/US.)

Ironically enough, the arbitrator/"integration specialist" that oversaw the the OZ/TWA deal was the same one that was used for the AA/TWA deal.

Since when did we get arbitration.
 
That wide body fence was still in effect when we were bought by AA, it didn't end in 7 years (1993?). DOH and being stapled is a huge difference. DOH is what every pilot has to his name, the only thing. Being stapled shows true contempt for the stapled group. We got the hint: We are untermensch. We get it. Thank God some have options now that other carriers are hiring. I think the last 747 flight may have had a PFE, which would have been a TWA guy.
 
all i know is the TWA flowbies do a walkaround on my leg, rain or shine. for that i am truly happy! (its the simple things in life).

Please don't generalize. I did not accept the flush back. Also, believe it or not, I did not staple the poor OZ pilots.
