I learned a trick a while ago...I don't use it anymore, but it might work for you. Use a ice pack, and have them keep it in the front desk freezer over night. Bring the food you want to eat, by foodsaving it...just make sure you freeze it right away after you cook it, bacteria forms on food when it cools on its own. Make sure it spends as little time as possible at the temperatures between, 75-50...thats the worst.

Also, most hotels will give you a mini fridge if you ask...

I take anything that just requires adding hot water like packages of soup, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc. I get the hot water from the lobby tea pot, or use the coffee pot in the room to heat up water.

...or use the coffee pot in the room to heat up water.

Funny, I use mine as a chamber pot so I won't have stumble to the bathroom. I wonder if we've ever stayed in the same room on different nights?

Kidding. But I'm sure it's been done. Back on topic, now.

Uncle Ben's microwavable spanish rice and canned chicken. Nuke the rice, put it in a small tupperware container, put the drained chicken into it and shake. A very filling, somewhat nutritious meal for under $4.

For a week long trip, I'll generally take with me $200 for food and drinks. That seems to work well, enough money to go to good restaurants and also to have some drinks if the layover is long enough.

Hey Guat,
Quit braggin and get back to the cargo forum, you dont have to hint how much they pay you at Fedex!

Just tell us how much you make, we know you are dyin to, tool!

Foodsaver at costco, or wherever else they sell them, I use it every week, pack any meal you would eat at home, works perfect, be SURE to double seal the bag at both ends, then throw the packs in your cooler and change ice every night at hotel, works great, though reheating them in the skywest crew lounge in ORD is a science experiment, you might get scurvy or something from that nuker, they recently threw it away it was so gross and bought another, definately not jerrys money!

Make some sandwiches, wrap them in foil and plastic bag, then you can keep them cool on the CRJ air vent by the flightbag. Oranges and Apples stay for a week if you dont bruise them, keep them in the roller board. Cliff bars are part of my diet, dried fruit goes well with them. Cheff boyardee! rocks when the hotel has a microwave, or just put hot water in the sink and let it warm up in the can for a while. I am just trying some jerky on this trip, but it is high in sodium and expensive. Oatmeal works for breakfast. cheese sticks.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO AVOID

*HOTEL COFFE POTS AND MUGS, THEY WIPE THEM WITH THE SAME RAG THEY CLEAN OUT THE TOILETE WITH! IF YOU DONT BELIVE ME SNIFF A MUG, OR JUST LOOK AT IT CLOSE. TAKE YOU OWN MUG, AND DRIP THE COFFE STR8 TO THE MUG AVOID THE POT.

* TUNA HAS HIGH MERCURY, CUT IT DOWN TO 1 CAN A WEEK.

* HUB FOOD SUCKS, SAVE THE MONEY FOR GOING OUT.

Breakfast - usually good size breakfast, along with liquids and coffee. 30 minutes later I have some "USA Today" time at the hotel in the bathroom.

In flight:

Clif Bar's and bottled water.

One hour from destination, I eat half the Clif bar, then 30 minutes later, eat the other half, along with lots of water. Keeps the blood sugar up and is good product, organic and natural.

Outback for supper on overnights.

:)

.

EEEEwwwww.....I heard that Flight Attendants use the coffee pots to clean their pantyhose. I don't know if it's true though.
