Wow how to make friends!!

Hope nobody over 60 figures out who that guy is!

Have to say that as a young man (33) I support the proposal. What goes around comes around. There are plenty of people who I am friends with that are fully capable of flying for another 5 years..

The majority of these guys are at fractionals now( Working harder than they have in 25 years)

I think that over 60 should be treated as a priviledge and should have more stringent medical testing but otherwise it is fine. Also a few decades from now it gives me the option to continue my career..

Remember guys you'll wake up one day at 59 years old and say to yourselves: Damn where did the time go!!

i thought you said you were the FO :)

Yea, and I will be working as the captain when that old bsturd next to me dies. Plus right now, I have to watch these old bsturds like a hawk and point out all those items they are missing that threaten the flight because they are asleep at the wheel or just CANT REMEMBER WHAT THEY NEED TO DO THAT THEY FORGOT FROM SCHOOL OR JUST HEARD ON THE RADIO OR READ.

As I posted on a similar thread, most young guys will never recover financially from delaying an upgrade for 5 years. Say you are 40 now and delay your upgrade to 45. In those 5 years you would lose 100k/yr (salary and B-fund) at my airline. I don't have a FV calculator handy at the moment, but at 45 you would have given up approx 700k by not upgrading. 700k over 20 yrs (age 45-65) at market 50 yr avg of 10% (actually 10.3%, but we'll round) return would yield approx $5.5 MILLION!

You will need to be paid in excess of $1 MILLION/yr by your airline from age 60-65 to come close to breaking even! You have been conned by the old geezers into believing this is a good thing for all pilots. This benefits only current captains who wish to work till they die.

Just Say No! :uzi:

Swapa Union President-npr Interview!

http://www.npr.org/dmg/dmg.php?prgCode=TOTN&showDate=15-SEP-04&segNum=2&getAd=1&mediaPref=RM&pageid=av-summary-results-controller

The above link is a real player, National Public Radio interview aired in Sept. 2005 with SWA union president misinforming the public with bad information as to why age 60 needs to be changed.

I especially liked the part the SWAPA president made about an airline pilot knowing when enough is enough and volunteering to stepping down by ones own personal choice. I have never meet a pilot and never heard of one yet that has done that by their own free will. All these old bsturds commenting in this post and others will have to be carried out on a stretcher just as they indicate that THEY WANT TO MAKE THE CHOICE.

The SWAPA president also makes continual reference just as all the senators and congressmen do about experience.

Well, I'm sorry but a captain with 20,000 hours verse a 10,000 hour pilot is not any more prepared. A plateau in experience is reached after 1000 hours as a captain and that fact is widely recognized by companies requiring 1000 hours of jet PIC or military command time. And anyone with that time and all of us that are being denied those captain positions have that 1000 hours of PIC or command time in SPADES are just as prepared and experienced!! So this experience arguement is garbage!

Lucky,
I'd rather be lucky than good anyday.

Do You Support Hiring Back Retirees?

Delta ALPA is hiring it's early retired pilots back with a lottery system and keeping them in their previous equipment and status bidding on the bottom of the seniority list. Who cares if they are on the bottom still flying B767 Captain international positions?!

The precedents have already been established and your company too will do this-- INCLUDING SWA that will hire it's retired pilots back and keep them in their CAPTAIN seats and positions. That is what the SWAPA union president is fighting to do today!

Do you support your company following DAL lead?

S.65's definition of full retirement age is not limited to 65 years old

S.65 is not limiting the age to 65!!!!!!! S.65 is saying that a PART 121 pilot can fly to the FULL RETIREMENT AGE OF SOCIAL SECURITY. A schedule has long been established by the Social Sec. Adm. to increase the age of full benefit.
Social Sec. is designed to have ALL contribute and only pay those that survive a short period of time and is based on a few years less than the current death rate age averages.

Those that are just entering the work force today won't recieve benefit until they are in their 70's. These ages are also based on political issues that determine the numbers basis on funding requirements of the administration.

So based on Social Security many airline pilots will be flying till their death.

Lucky,
And I'll take lucky over good anyday.

I want to fly as long as they will let me. I still have 20 years left but don't want anyone limiting me. Seems like the young'ns are only worried about upgrading and "raking" in the big coin"......HA! that dream diminishes with each passing day......relax kids, your day will come....maybe.

Seriously, as long as doctors can crack me open like a lobster without age limits, why am I to be limited? The truth boils deep down in the darkness where common folks fear to tread-a majority of the lawmakers are AFRAID of the (mystery) of flying therefore, they attempt to control what they do not understand.

Completely baseless. Now where the hell did I put my geritol..............what was the question again?

Naptime.....ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz.
