I don't have a problem with the FFDO program. In fact, it's probably going to go down in history as one of the best managed federal law enforcement programs ever.

However, pilots with handguns cannot disarm bombs. Either the feds come up with screening solutions that can determine whether makeup is a bomb, or they shut down airline travel until they can guarantee they know the difference between sh*t and shineola.

In case anyone wants an updated field report, I commuted out of STL this morning (Saturday), in uniform with all of my gooey goodies. There was no line at the checkpoint, and I received no hassle at either the checkpoint or the gate. Like any other day, but your mileage will vary.

I guess batsky hasn't gotten the 18 or so emails from ALPA and company saying that flight crewmembers in uniform, whether commuting or working a flight, are exempt from the new rubber glove tactics.
