Flight crew are not exempt. Another case of an organization so badly run and ineffective, they probably require help to tie their shoes. Probably run by the same clowns running the US operation in Iraq.

Flight crew personnel in uniform are exempt from the ban, unless traveling to the UK.

This information is from my company and union websites.

TSA liquid ban = Bush Administration in Iraq? WTFO?

Nevermind your hair gel!!! Think how scarey the stewardess's are going to look without 95% of their makeup.

Flightcrews have never been exempt from anything that the passengers haven't.
Our mighty Chief Pilots can send 'memos' till they get carple-tunnel syndrome, but the pimple-faced, overweight loser retards at the security stations are already having a field day with this one! NO simple 'memo' from anyone will change this new policy.
And don't use mouthwash in place of toothpaste before that first leg or you'll be blowing in the tube for skippy and buzz the airport rentacops.

you're one of those glass-is-half-full kind of guys, aren't you ;)

Depends... if I am drinking beer, it's half empty and someone better be filling it up. Half full for most other things.

Odd, spoke to the TSA at SEA and OGG yesterday. Both said the same thing, Flight Crews are exempt and may have all manners of lotions, pastes, and yes, even hair gel with them in their checked baggage. Also understand that our flights out of Southern Cal had the same info passed onto them. And since they didn't make me surrender my Rosemary Mint Detoxifying shampoo from the Mariott, I'm assuming that we flight crews must be exempt, cause this schtuff smells frickin' explosive (kidding!).

Terrorists exploit the weakest link in the chain. As someboody mentioned on another thread now that the cockpit is secured they are focusing on assembling bombs from seperate carriers in the cabin. Now that we have licked that except for crews how long do you think it will be before one of them buys a uniform off the forums here and walks through security with a fake id with stuff in their exempted carry on?

I think the next step is the complete banning of carry-ons altogether. The step after that is complete nudity...

The time for patience and diplomacy with muslim fundamentalists is long past.
Why don't the British make an example of these Pakistanis' by putting them on display for public execution?

I would support that with the Asian carriers, but the Legacy guys need to keep their FA's fully clothed (hell if it would make the Islamic Facists hate us less force them to wear veils, its a win/win).

The jihaadists are revisiting something they tested out back in the mid 90s. Information that was handed to the FBI. Do a search for operation Bojinka(sp)

Was told by the TSA that the above is true only if you are on duty at the time, not if you are traveling to or from work

Anybody hear anything about laptops? I thought I heard a blurb on Headline that they were making all Pax check laptops. What if your airplane is paperless?

I actually commuted out of uniform and they didn't hassle me yesterday, but let's face it, you're gonna get completely random responses from differen't TSA peeps. Be prepared for anything and unless you have A LOT of time on your hands (or some really expensive hand lotion) don't ask to see a supe, it's gonna take a long time to get verification on anything....

Best bet I believe is to show up in Uniform no matter how you're traveling....

Unless something changed overnight, laptops are still ok. They did ban them between the US/UK along with all other carryons as far as I've heard....

No sweat

I'll clear this up. I commuted today in uniform from ORF to STL. Went through security just like a week ago. Laptops, shave kit and all.

Checked baggage isn't the problem. Carryon luggage is the problem. When was the last time you checked your bags when you were operating?

According to the TSA Security Directive I have in my posession distributed through my airline, uniformed crewmembers are exempt from the liquid/gel/paste/lotion/goo restrictions.

No caveat as to "on duty" or "commuting." Just "uniformed crewmembers."

I'd tell you more, but I'd have to kill you right before I was fired and arrested for disseminating secure info.
