So, I just wanna re-cap this... Flight 504 from FLL-EWR diverts to Bradley, and people are stuck on the plane for 7 hours due to weather and extenuating circumstances (even at a JB station)... Let's assume the Captain and crew do everything to get fuel, food, buses, etc., to the airplane, but nothing materializes... Then this poor Captain is brought to Forest Hills to give an interview for a podcast/video which is then disseminated to all of JB? I'm just trying to piece this all together..

That's exactly what has happened.

The suits are covering their butts because they didn't prepare properly for that storm, they haven't devoted the resources they need to deal with situations like this, and they STILL have monumentally POOR planning when it comes to diversions and contingencies.

But, in true jetblue fashion, it was the pilot's lack of teamwork that was the real problem.

So, he was summoned to establish that fact and preserve the illusion that is jetblue.

I wonder if they'll include the BDL debacle in their HR presentation to prospective employees like they do (did?) the Valentine's Day debacle? Perhaps they'll just use that poor CA's mea culpa statement.

Understood... Feel sorry for that poor CA.

Especially since he was a NO voter on the representation election. Bet he's rethinking that vote.

I agree with a previous poster. Let him twist in the wind. Maybe if he ends up fired or violated some of the "no" voters will get a flippin' clue.

Let me understand this, the fellow divets to his alternate, has no ground services available due to lack of company planning, and HE has to apologise?? WTF!!!!

If you want to be technical about it, the original alternate for most of those planes was BOS. After a go around and holding they were off to BOS, but in the process BOS center cut off the flow causing them to go to BDL.

I still don't buy this excuse, because BDL is a "blue" city not some random divert.

Brutal brutal brutal. At least with a union there is a process and you have your own lawyer next to you at the carpet dance. Jet Blue pilots seem to relay onto me that 99% of the operation is drama and pistol whipping free, I guess for some guys union representation doesn't matter until it's their ass on the line.

Question: when the pilot is beat on by the company, is he then a "black and blue" pilot?

Perfect analogy.

Unless I am mistaken the Captain of 504 admitted restarting an MEL'd item repeatedly. I suspect Jetblue traded a little protection from the feds for this new protracted statement.

He and his passengers are lucky that APU didn't burn up. Can't believe the Feds would let something like THAT slide.

Lesson to every JB pilot. The only words out of your mouth to the press is no comment, or contact my company for any information.

Funny $$$$, That is what JetBlue will be telling the press except they will be telling them contact my pilot, here is his number.

For a couple million tax free in nonsequential bills I would be happy to comment

He did not speak to the press.

All he did was speak on a company frequency and the BDL ground frequency. One very interesting tidbit about Jebtlue is despite the incompetence of our leadership they will do whatever they can to spin bad press. There is always spin in place to deflect blame and forcing this captain to retract his statement via podcast is the ultimate spin.

Crucifixion of a pilot, a no voter no less, in front of 14,000 employees is the ultimate illustration of a failed management team.

I just sit back and laugh and then cry. I have 30 years left and I'm wasting my career in a dead end company waiting, hoping and praying someone will call for an interview.

THIS. This guy (my feelings about him being an idiotic no-voter aside) was recorded unknowningly by one of those websites where wannabes get off dreaming of being pilots, and he was completely professional albeit frustrated. HE DID NOT GIVE A STATEMENT TO ANYONE!!

Being a no-voter, wouldn't all you juicers think the company would be holding him up for praise? Instead he's forced to grab his ankles to make all the AO, GO, SSC, JBU, FSC gnomes feel a bit better about their own bluethiness.

Every news organization in the world has scanners monitoring police, fire and air traffic frequencies. If you don't know that, you're an idiot. NEVER say something on the radio you don't want recorded.

Unless you work for a union carrier. ALPA, Temasters, SWAPA, APA would have never let this happen. At Jetblue, with no protection, you are subject to "leaderships" opinion.
The phrase "if I want your opinion I'll give it to you" has never been more true than at Jetblue.

Why? He got EXACTLY what he voted for.

Well yes and no. During the ALPA elections David Scott sent a mass email to the pilot group pleading for the pilot group to vote no on unionization. He did so abusing his send rights as a PVC member. According to flight ops he was punished. Back track a little now to when the first edition of "The Moat" was emailed from a non-Jetblue email address. After the Jetblue discerned the identity of the authors they were punished. Now let's consider the punishments for both emails. David Scott received a letter in his file. The Moat authors were almost terminated.

In short the playing field is not level. Pro-company supporters are treated substantially different to pro-pilot supporters during a disciplinary hearing. You may suggest the disparity is criminal however since it's clearly not illegal all you can say is it's disgusting.
