maybe, maybe not. This has never come up so it has never been tested. But, you can bet at least one of those over 60 FEs will file a lawsuit to get his Captain seat back.
I'm no authority on the subject, but friends at FedEx said their contract would have to be renegotiated before the over 60 guys could return to the left seat, even if the law did change.

ALPA has been polling to see if members would object to pilots over 60 returning with seniority. The question caught me off guard....

As far as an FE lawsuit, it would take some time in court and and now the 61 and 62 year olds on the panel are 63 and 64 when a ruling says that they can get their old seat back. I bet then each airline just pays the 64 year olds to stay on the panel for the last year instead of sending them to training. So now you only have the 62 and 63 year olds (how big a number could this possible be?) back in the left seat for their last 2 or 3 years. Its not like these will bring hiring to a standstill. Just a temporary drop off.

When planning a carreer and being offered a job at your carrier of choice, I can't see a couple of years making that much difference. The big problem is all of the 59 1/2 year olds who wont be retiring for a full 5 more years. Good for them though. Besides, you can look at it like everyone is gaining 5 years.

Yeah, if Age 65 does happen, movement at Fedex and UPS will actually go backwards, since there are plenty of over age 60 guys on the FE panel. If they kept their seniority, they will bid BACK to Captain, and FOs would move back to FE probably. Ouch. No FE slots at DL.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Wow...2 pages go by and none of the FDX or UPS guys bite down on the chum. I am shocked and impressed at the same time.

unfortunately I bit on it and the moderator took my post off. Lets just say that the general is still an idiot after 8138 posts and he is freaking clueless. Yeah.... I know.... its just not worth it anymore with this retard...... good luck to the guys that want to go to delta. Word of advice.... have plan b and c ready to execute, cause you won't be gettin any brotherly love at delta.

and gl

take a look at 3rd year FE rates at UPS vs your precious 8 year FO rates......have fun as a USAir pilot......

Huh? Is it not possible if age 65 actually happens? It is for UPS and Fedex, since they still have FEs. IF they just retired (age 60) and moved to the FE seat (like our ROPES did at DL), and they allow over age 60 pilots, why couldn't they bid back? That would atleast cause major stagnation. We don't have that problem, since we don't have FEs anymore.

And you know what? You are the retard Netwok sling. You were seniority challenged, like many at DL, when you were furloughed. Our Furloughs got Cobra, got credit for years of service when they were out (United didn't), and are almost all back now. You enjoy Brown, and never look back, because the way you act now---we don't want you back. We will do just fine without you, and all newhires are welcome. It may be a bumpy couple of months, but we will come out just fine. But, you always know better. Bye now.

What? You sound like a jacka$$. And you added what value to this thread? NADA. Thanks for wasting our time with your lame banter.........

Wheww!! All is still right in the world then. I take 2 weeks off from flight info return to the board and see one 'professional aviator' making less than complimentary remark about a fellow aviator's airline. That 'professional aviator' does not respond like his/her entire family has been disrespected and lays awake that night cursing the initial post. I thought it was too good to be true.
Nice to see this board is still dominated by children. This child is taking another 2 weeks off and spending time with his own children.

Give the General a bone guys - he has identified the one problem on earth that Delta doesn't have right now.

Wow.... where do you come up with these great zingers.... you showed me.
As for the stagnation remark? 53 MD-11s total, 40 747-400, 40 767-200 and who the heck knows about the Airbus 380 or its replacement. Whats your upgrade time now at delta? 15 to 17 years..... hello pot... meet kettle....

Bobby,

Im glad that I could be of service and keep your expectations at the same level for Flightinfo.

Jon,

Until you know the facts and the history here I suggest you have a nice cup of STFU and enjoy the show.....feel free to put me on your ignore list or just move along. You're not gonna hurt my feelings......

Glad you liked it Nerd-twot-Kang. (wow I am good) No, I could have held MD88 Captain for the last year, so that would be 9 years. Not bad with 9-11 thrown in there. I am waiting for the 737-800, which should be here shortly thanks to the 13 ex TWA 757s coming this Summer, and the bid for those shortly. Sounds like you will get a lot of big metal soon. Enjoy ANC. 40 767-200s? Really? From Air Canada? They don't have 40 767-200s. You must be wrong.

So, overall you really look like a complete arse. I love the STFU remark. Wow, you really are a bad boy! Enjoy Brown.

You're right. My TWA experience was nothing compared to what you're going through. I hope I never have to go through anything as bad as the Delta situation.

Did the Delta MEC show ANY support to the TWA guys during the AA purchase/staple?

I think you should rephrase that to read, "Did ALPA show ANY support to the TWA guys during the AA purchase/staple?"

Anyway what does all this have to do with Delta calling for interviews. I am from CVG and would love to get on with Delta. I do not have my app in with FedEx and I do not want to work there. I could care less about Fedex upgrade times and 60 year old FEs. That is why I opened a Delta thread.

Delta this is TWA, request help, over.

Negative Ghostrider, OUR wallet is full. Delta out.

It looks like the TWA pilots amended their scope and successorship language to "ensure a quick closing" for an acquisition they strongly supported.

So what exactly did they ask the DAL pilots to do for them after they amended their successorship language to ensure that quick closing of their acquisition?

T.W.A. Pilots Reach Accord With AMR

Trans World Airlines Inc. said today that its pilots reached agreements with T.W.A. Airlines L.L.C., the unit of the AMR Corporation's American Airlines that will operate as T.W.A.'s successor.
The agreements included amendments to provisions of the pilots' collective bargaining agreement pertaining to scope, benefits and successorship, said T.W.A. pilots represented by the Air Line Pilots Association International union.
The head of the T.W.A. pilots' union, Capt. Robert A. Pastore, in a letter to the chairman and chief executive of American Airlines, Donald J. Carty, said the pilots wanted ''to ensure a prompt closing'' of the acquisition of T.W.A., which they strongly support.'' Captain Pastore said the pilots ''expect issues related to the integration of our pilots into the American system will be fairly resolved with our participation.''

WAKE UP!!!!!!
The TWA pilots reached that agreement the same way the United pilots, the Northwest pilots, the ATA pilots, etc, etc, etc, reached theirs. On their knees in bankruptcy court with a gun to their heads.

What rock did you spend the 2000's under?

BTW, this is not a thread hijack, just a response to the General's insinuation that none of us can ever know his pain.
