well if they go to 7 airplanes that means around 3 crews per a/c. That would be about 21 capts. f/o's and f/e's remaining.
except i hear they have a bunch of pft f/o's and f/e's. that would probably bump out most of the remaining cat first officers and flight engineers. Unless of course the new company drops the pft thing. either way it looks like they wont be hiring for awhile.

Well, the new CAT "if purchased" will be running much differently, thats all I can say. All the negative things that happen to crewmembers by the company just "to move the plane" will never happen again. Period.

As far as hiring goes, there is no settlement yet on who will be staying and who will be going. Could be alot of people.

Enjoy the Congo Gentleman. Just a hunch but try MirabilisVentures.com, doing work in Congo with water projects. Good Luck to everyone involved.

X-CAT

No Congo for now. But it's possible. If it does happen the pay will be different. The pay will be different anyway though.

A little birdie told me the sale includes only 4 airplanes. CAT historically has crewed around 2 crews per plane (usually a little below) so that most likely means more like 8-12 captains and less FO's and FE's.

4 purchased, 3 leased. They will be properly crewed so there's a quality-of-life for everyone and so noone gets screwed out of their schedule.

kevdog why so negative.....did u get furloughed at centurion?

Am I being negative? I think it's interesting the people on FI at CAT are excited their airline is going from 18 to 4-7 airplanes, and being based in the Congo. Since most from this thread just joined FI in the last month or so I can only guess who they are.

As you obviously know thunderkitty I was furloughed at Centurion for a month and a half. Funny thing is I made more in 8 months last year (flying 8-12 days a month average) than I did at brand-x for the entire year flying 22 days a month average away from home. The furlough allowed me to take a needed trip north, visit friends, move some stuff out of storage, and relax.

I'll ask you how your furlough is going next month.

Hopefully, no, you won't.

By days end tomorrow we'll know alot more about where the NEW CAT will be headed, if anywhere. Hopefully, if current management "plays ball" it will be the place to fly. The person that may buy CAT (MY BOSS) does not go for any of the typical industry treatment of crewmembers and business practices of cargo company management. I know, I'm his personal corporate pilot and someone will have an active role, day-to-day with the crewmembers interests in mind. Pay, time off, benefits and happiness will be quite nice. If it won't be profitable to run it the right way, he won't buy it.

Only thing that sucks, but it has nothing to do with the possible new company, is: Crews will have to be laid-off.

And yeah, you do come off as Mr. Negative. I hate that.

Good luck! hope it works out for you! I'm sure the "current management" will "play ball" and "CAT" will be the "place to work!" Anything else would just be "negative!" Then again, I'm sure all the "negative" crewmembers will be "terminated" and "CAT" will even be a more "positive" airline.

I would rather read a post that is more aligned with the way it is. Not some cryptic hints as to how wonderful it will be for CAT guys. If it would have any of the original people at all. I heard Henry George is supposed to have another PFT class going on right now. Also I don't know or care for who your boss is but if he's getting involved in anyway with Tommy Duckworth or any of the other CAT management it's going to be just another scumbag operation. So I just hope that most of the guys at CAT can find something before hanging on to false hopes from this forum on how wonderful it's going to be for them all. No Kevdog isn't being negative just realistic. I'd rather read the real deal than some utopian dream which is not going to happen. But I honestly hope I am wrong on this. I hope that CAT becomes then next FEDEX and everybody lives happily ever after.
