At least now we know who is doing all that draft flying........

I won't do draft, extra flying, etc. (Disputing pairings are a totally separate issue- it has nothing to do with negociations!!!! Just don't do them... Ever.)

But I will fly direct if I can- it is safe (duh)- and I will fly the speed that they want me to- ECON. Which is usually .83 or .84.

 Why does this stuff have to be spelled out. Of course flying direct is safe. If your flight plan says ECON and that's .83 or .84 - then fly it. My point is: Many actions we choose, like staying on the planned route or not flying the barber pole to make up time can be explained because you felt they were the safest course of action at the time. It's very hard for someone to rake you over the coals for doing something as safe as possible. Unfortunately (for the company), sometimes safety (which is the #1 priority) may make you a tad late. ;)

Nice couple of posts AdlerDriver, my thoughts exactly.

Nothing extra, is definately my personal choice and I think it is starting to spread to others as well. Lets fight the good fight now, not later.

Been called 6 times in the last three days. No personal job action here. Just spending time with the family this summer. The last call seemed pretty desperate. I've also notice there are far fewer people puting themseves on the list.

Adler was the man in his first squadron. He was the man at his previous job. And his post here is also spot on.

Glad to have you on the team.

Read the new MEC email? Should be plain enough for echopapa now.

And, with the exception of 5 July, all the 727 F/O open time trips have been picked up. Nice.

...those might be dudes dropping R days for trips...we really are overmanned on the bird. I personally don't have a problem with guys doing that. If that provides more "family time", I think the intent is met.

That's it. I (once again) proclaim the death of irony.

Sorry. How the F was I supposed to know he wasn't serious? Can't tell tone in a post. Thought I was helping the guy out, Huck. We DO have new hires on the MD-11. Next time I'll just make fun of him, that way if he IS serious, he'll feel like a moron.

This kind of post usually appears after FOUR nights of hub turns, NOT three:blush:

Or FIVE nights of reserve, not being called, living in another state, begging to be released, and chugging jack and cokes once you ARE released. At least I have the Gracie Jiu Jitsu to get me thru the R days!

MD F/O s
CRS getting desperate. MEM Hotel stanby pairings are now in open time. This an attempt bring commuters in on AVA and DRF.
I've been called the last 5 days 2-3 times a day!

When guys/gals start blocking their schedules on VIPs you can assume they're flying extra.

Someone should check into say, "Hunter" from the famed tv series "Survivor" for example, and see if he's flying more or if he simply recently quit FedEx......

Or a former Airbus ground school instructor, "Clay M.", and ask why he's blocked his schedule.................a retired USAF guy getting widebody pay shouldn't need to fly extra......but then again it's Clay I'm talking about.

Mr Mc... goes by the callsign "Spanky." It was kind of cute to hear the O-6s call him that.

meanwhile, back on right seat of the slave jet, I drop with impunity and see the reserves enjoying lots of time off.

Funny to see how manning is hard to ever get just right, in the military or in the airlines...

I was under the impression (rumor) that Hunter had taken a leave of absense. No need to drag his name in the mud and say he is flying extra, or quit, unless you have some factoids. Of course, I do not have factoids, either..... but he IS still on the Master Seniority List.
