Heyas all,

Of course, the problem with most regionals and some majors is that schedulers keep a "$hit list".

While certainly not official, if you are a jacka$$ too many times, they know who you are. Given a situation that could either break in your favor or not, you can bet you will get the crappy side.

Best thing is to keep a low profile. Signal ring or caller ID. Don't talk to scheduling at all if it can be avoided.

Be a Man. Learn how to be a tough guy with the company and know how to not get screwed..... Are you tough enough to "bring a gun to a knife fight?"

Soft, low profile, types that pride themselves on being unknowns to the CPO and "just show up for work and go home" are the detrimentals.....

How are these guys able to "just show up and go home"? I guess someone else cleared the way for them....

I had an unusual assignment once. I was on an "official day off" on reserve. Crew Sked calls in the afternoon. Being on reserve, I had to answer it for tomorrow's proffer or risk being assigned the worst trip.

"We need you to fly a Sao Paulo tonight, 8:00 PM sign-in"

"No can do, it's my day off."

"OK, we'll delay the sign in until 12:01 A.M. You can sign in then, or, you can make the scheduled departure and we'll comp you 4 hours. Your choice."

"You'd actually delay 200+ people for 4 hours?"

"Yup..."

"OK, I'll show up at 8:00"

Whimpy maybe, but one way or another I was going to fly the trip, and I figured I'd do it with minimum fuss to the passengers.
