 Heheh! You seem very concerned with Spirit. Why? What's the story behind it?
Dont worry about us too much.....we're just fine. I love it here! Your assessments of Spirit are way off. You had me really scratching my head with your descriptions of Spirit.
My very good friend is a VX pilot and had occasion to travel on a Spirit flight the other day. Her quote...."I was expecting something different. It's the same thing as everywhere else."
She tells me you guys get a lotta 'pump-up' propaganda at your "meetings" about your product being oh-so-ultra-superior.
When you wonder why pilots for other airlines aren't shedding a tear over your financial demise......that's why! Try to be a little more humble! Again....it's just an airline!!

And, thanks for your concern over our business model. As you know, we have a few of your former guys in our Flight Ops. Business model for them is pretty much "to do things so as to not end up like VX. Saw the writing on that wall a few years back."

No sure what writing you speak of from a couple years ago because we are still here. I don't need management propoganda. Every survey/ranking we are involved in we are at the top. Maybe the strategy will fail. We will see.

Flyr...if your so f'ing discusted by our product everytime you jumpseat please do us all a favor and STAY THE F AWAY!!!!!

now if you'll excuse me I have to get back to my 17 day off line...i love this f'ing place

I am glad you enjoy work. I do too!! By the way, I think you meant me, not flyer. The crew has been nothing but nice to me when I jumpseat and I have been fortunate to be in exit row or big seat up front. I am just trying to show it doesn't matter what is happening right now. What matters is where your career will be in 30 years. You are welcome on VX jumpseat any time!!

These Virgin and Spirit threads are getting old...The title was inflammatory, could have just kept it as " Virgin tops the list." You know the NK Internet crowd ( see new FO's) don't let anybody put Baby in a corner!

Aviatrix,

Ignorance is bliss. Unfortunately, it like likes to talk (to much) and we have a lot of it. What kills me is they want to argue how flawed the product at Spirit is when the numbers clearly say otherwise.

I guess our cut backs and delays in orders, quality, or should I say lack of, current company functions and standing in the yearly welfare line for another handout is considered "momentum". What would you expect from an individual who says the best money he has ever made was from a regional airline? A complete lack of experience is why we are having a hard time achieving success in our rules and pay.

Can't lead a horse to water but I trust we will get there eventually. It might take some time though because of the revolving door VX is becoming.

Carry on and thanks for the rides. You guys at Spirit are professional (and might I add dressed like one) and a class act.

The most I made was at a regional because I am still on first year pay. If I went to daddy delta, i would have to say the same thing. You are correct about the numbers today. Spirit makes money and we don't. There is certainly room for both airlines to make money. I just don't like working for a company that is all about lowest cost for everything. If you are so concerned about vx, why haven't you bolted?

I'm not concerned. I just don't pretend it's something it's not or feel the need to justify to the world why I'm here. I'm glad you "just love it", that's fine. Me, I find it acceptable. Enough said.

Make your case and STFU before you insult the wrong people and we end having hard times catching rides because "you" are trying to represent the majority. Sometimes the things you have said have made for lousy conversations in the cockpit. I had one Captain refer to his FO for his approval because of morons like you.

Make your statement and move on.

That's all fine, but quote me on what I stated was incorrect. Calling a coworker a moron says more about this pilot group than being proud of the product we put out and being optomistic. If someone asks me in the jumpseat what I think about virgin, I will tell them what I have stated here. We have turned the corner, hopefully we will make money this year, the product is amazing and I really enjoy my time at work. If someone wants to deny jumpseats based on that, thats unfortunate. Also, I will straight up say I dont speak for the majority. I speak for myself. Many dont like it here, and that's fine. I personally dont get why anyone would make a lateral move at this point, but to each his own. Legacy move, I get it. Commute, okay, but thats about it. Just my opinion, not speaking for the majority.

Ignoring my own rule this time, however this is my last retort.

You, yourself, said you are on first year pay. You have been here less than a year. We are a private company. WTF could you possibly know that may or may not be factual.

I have been here 4+ years, have watched many things change, some good, some bad and like everyone here still don't know what is truth and what is not. BECAUSE, private companies don't release everything or all knowledge to anyone, especially the employee. Did you know at one time VX was 2 weeks from closing the doors? Do you know when the employees were told? About a year later. Davids quote included the statement "... I may have not told you the full truth". My point is that the information is controlled.

So what is really going on, please do tell, since your in the know? Actually please don't tell, because you don't know.

Regarding jumpseats:

There were none denied. They were uncomfortable because people like you can't just make your statement and move on. Plus they start threads that are inflammatory.

Moving on now, enjoy your arguments about things you know very little about.

As pilots shouldn't we just concern ourselves with our part of the business? For example showing up on time and rested, moving the plane from A to B with safety and efficiency first and foremost, and then winding down with a nice meal and cool beverage. Let the Bransons and Baldanzas of the world handle the CEO stuff.

You obviously know nothing about me because I am about the opposite of what you are describing there. Either way, I am done trying to defend my positive point of view. Obviously it is a moot action here on fi.com.

And all my good talking about vx is biting me in the ass. Swapped to a broken airplane and nothing but trouble.

As a Spirit hope full (filled out the long app last night) I guess you could count me in the "best money I ever made was at a regional" crowd. Best vacation too, while we're at it. But right now my regional is losing out on new flying while Spirit is growing and growing. Is the grass greener? Can't say for sure, but I haven't heard a bad word spoken by anyone who works at NK.

My previous comments about Spirit were a bit harsh without knowing a whole lot about what I was talking about. The only things I go by are what I see and what those I talk to tell me about (no Spirit pilots). Obviously I have gotten an undue impression about how they operate. I have no ill will towards the pilots and I apologize.

you sir are a class act!! youll find 99.9% of us Nk guys love our jobs and are very excited about the future...more importantly 99.9% of us want to see Vx succeed and to see all you guys live long prosperous lives...this is not a Michigan vs. Ohio State thing...we just get a bit flustered when people pretend they know everything about how good or bad we have it...Were all just trying to feed our families regardless of what colors are on the tail....is spirit the perfect place to work...FAR FROM IT! weve got some rocky roads ahead as this book becomes amendable and we enter early sit downs with management...it will get ugly! But at this point we have fantastic work rules that we have no intention of giving up...your welcome in our jumpseats anytime...
ps...Bri I feel your pain...I spent the worst 6 FRIGGEN YEARS of my life at Pinnacle...only I wasn't making good money...congrats to any and all from 9e/9l/xj who walked away from that abortion of an operation...safe to say NK and Vx are both steps up

Are you kidding me? I would rather work for Spirit at the bottom of Customer service and top of profitability, then VA at the top of customer surveys and the absolute bottom at making money.

Im proud to fly for Spirit :), and I enjoy peanut M&Ms and Combos

No. You would rather do what it takes to get out of a 6 year RJ FO seat at Expressjet. Spirit called. Lets not pretend like where you came from was rosey and you had your choice of Major/LCC airlines lining up for your services. Like every other pilot out there, I threw my darts everywhere. VX called first and that's why. If Spirit had called first, I'd be there. 2011/12 hasn't been a pilots market. We end up at different places just by chance. Hopefully a time will come in the future when pilots have numerous job offers in hand because the demand is there. But that's not today.

Accurate enough :) I didn't apply to VX though, the commute would kill me, lol I also applied to JetBlue and got called for an interview but respectfully declined. I had a really good friend reccomend me there and by the time The call came I was more than happy to continue with Spirit. ( he left for UAL, so no hard feelings on his part)

Oh okay. You probably weren't as desperate as I was LOL. I applied to airlines I didn't even know existed (like Aloha Air Cargo).

I am not worked up at all. I am treated well (except for scheduling) and I very much enjoy my job. I like passengers telling me that was the best plane ride they have ever been on, and I like seeing the airline I work for top the ratings every time they are included in a survey. If we can start making money, I have no doubt more will come my way. If we don't, I guess I will be on the street. Only time will tell, but I am optomistic after the news and rumors from the last couple months. Oh, and I like not wearing a tie and still look/act professional ;).
Last week, I flew from SAN to ATL and I saw the same passengers telling me the same thing when they disembarked the plane.
