United Express plane slides off Ottawa runway

OTTAWA
Wed Jun 16, 2010 3:34pm EDT

OTTAWA June 16 (Reuters) - An airliner operated by United Express slid off the runway at Ottawa airport on Wednesday, but there were no serious injuries among the passengers, an airport spokeswoman said.
She said the aircraft was built by Brazilian aerospace group Embraer (ERJ.N) but had no more details.
Local media said the plane was arriving from Washington, carrying 33 people. Ottawa was hit by heavy rain on Wednesday afternoon. (Reporting by David Ljunggren; editing by Rob Wilson)

I guarantee it was an ERJ that didn't have thrust reversers. How's going cheap on the equipment working out for ya, Trans States management?

Wonder if they realize the US is the ONLY place you find grooved runways. Pilots rarely find new ways of wrecking aiplanes, and runway overruns are a trendy favourite. Piss poor planning and worse execution yield about the same results every time.

Looks like everybody is ok, just some minor injuries.

The RWYS up there are fairly long 8,000 and 10,000....who knows, maybe something failed.
