If you don't like hearing anything..

As far as the inside, well that's what ear plugs are for. As far as the outside goes, it will be a sad day when there are no more CJ-610s screaming on takeoff. I still love watching a 20 series takeoff, what a great sound! Especially when its cold out.

Alpha Flying:

"Thank you for your interest in Alpha Flying, Inc! Your resume has been reviewed and we would like to invite you to complete the attached application package.

You are about to apply to the company that is the largest fleet operator of the Pilatus PC-12 in the world. Alpha Flying, Inc. has created a very successful niche in the fractional aviation business. Over the next 5 years, we will be adding 25 GROB spn corporate jets and will become the largest fleet purchaser of that aircraft. We operate in the Eastern US, Canada and the Bahamas. Once the Grob spn aircraft joins our fleet, we will be adding Bermuda as well.

Our pilots work a 7 day on/7 day off schedule. The starting salary as a First Officer is $27,000/year plus benefits and per diem. Upgrades to Captain are based on merit and usually take from 10 months to 14 months depending on the needs of the company. The starting salary for a Captain position is $38,000/year including benefits with an increase at 6 months and another increase after 12 months. A Captain starting his 3rd year starts at $53,000 with annual $4,000/year increases after that.

Alpha Flying, Inc. moved to our new state-of-the-art base in Portsmouth, NH in October 2007. We have remote bases in FXE & PDK. Our pilots must live within 2 hours of one of these locations. We currently manage 33 aircraft and are projecting to manage over 50 in the next three years. "

from "Typhoon Pilot" at:
Good post from Koru with some good ideas, but as an American citizen I still advise to stay away from U.S. contract agencies. Therefore GAP for KAL and HACS for Japan are probably not the best idea. Not that there is anything wrong with those agencies, but life is far simplier if you do not get a 1099 form from your employer. I would reccommend either Cambridge Communications ( very good reputation ) for KAL or PARC ( also good ) for Japan if you are a U.S. citizen.

I would avoid Rishworth based on their reputation.

All that said, as a 737 First Officer your options are limited. It's far easier to get a job as a captain on the foreign contracts. Others that hire first officers are Cathay Cargo, Viva Macau, Gulf Air, Air Arabia, China Airlines, EVA Airways, Jazeera Airways, Saudi Arabian, Saudi Aramco, as well as those mentioned by Koru. You might try to get a recurrent session in the CRJ and that could put you in a position to get a CRJ captain position somewhere like Arik in Nigeria as well as some of the Chinese operators.

Sim Instructors:
FlighSafety and CAE/Simuflight are the biggest. They are DESPERATE for sim instructors. NetJets would have tons more aircraft, pilots and customers now, but for a shortage of sims, sim time, and sim instructors.

FAA ATC is also DESPERATE for controllers. Under 31, no experience necessary: Take a test and if pass make about $33K in training. Start at $38K+.

Cliff, did you survive the axe?

Hi!

Yeah, I was lucky.

I got my falcon experience, my type, and my 1000 PIC jet, and then went to the -9. I was on the -9 and 5 years senior to the most senior -9 guy laid off (if you don't count B.C.-that was a crock!).

I am in capt IOE now in MCI with Dennis C. (he went off the street to the -9 in about '98 and made capt in a year or so).

I just met a SWA capt who I knew and is now recommending me-she and her hubby (D&D based in OAK) are the only two SWA people I know, and I didn't know they were at SWA until last week. She originally went to AA and got furloughed.

One of the Falcon Check Airman that was furloughed is OK, though, because he should be at SWA by next month-been in the pool since Sep -07.

Maybe I'll be your FO in a couple of years???

So are the Falcons going to be for sale?

This is the $55,000 dollar question! Does anyone know where they are going? I'm guessing that wherever they end up they will be needing crews, and that they would prefer to hire people with time and/or types in the Falcon already. I have a hard time believing that they are just going to be parked at the end of the ramp and from what I was told they are never coming back on-line here.

For those of you without ATPs you can check out the Michigan "No worker left behind program." Looks like if you are on unemployment they will pay for the training. Also, I have spoken with a couple of our guys that do not have CFIs that might be interested in getting one. I think they might pay for that too. I don't know about type ratings yet, that is what I am interested in. Never turn down free training (unless of course doing it means having to pass up a class date).

Freight Runners Cessna 402 Position

I know this may be a step backward for some of you laid off guys, but we are looking for a Cessna 402 Pilot to be based in Baraboo, WI (KDLL). The route begins Monday PM at 18:30 lcl and fly DLL-MKE Monday through Friday PM. Layover in a crew house in MKE then Tuesday-Saturday AM Fly MKE-DLL with a 6:20 lcl departure. Layover at home approx 10-11 hours during the day Tues-Fri and off after arriving on Sat AM until PM show on Monday night.

If you’re interested send me a PM or you can email me at [email protected] we are looking to hire someone ASAP. You will most likely upgrade to a BE99 captain in 6-12 months. Check out www.freightrunners.com for more info. All aircraft from the 402's up to the BE1900's are operated single pilot and excellent instrument skills and judgment are required.

Once upon a time I left most of my belongings in a U-haul lot dumpster, put the rest in my small pickup, and drove away from a failed company. Been there, done that. It was ugly.

I hope you fellers do the spin recovery properly and climb out again. Its tough being an aviaholic...

Heyas,

I once knew a guy who could have all of his belongings in his car in under 20 minutes, and most of that time was letting the air out of his air mattress.

That works great until you're about 30 or so.

Despite being the reciepient of more than one NSF paycheck, I've always managed to keep one step ahead of a really bad situation.

With that said, my best wishes go out to all the USA Jet guys.

Nu

Heyas,

Does this mean the pilot shortage is over?

Mc

yes is it over in the US for right now

2017

Heyas,

What is the prediction for the next boom?

Mc
They happen in years ending in 7, so 2017 will be the next boom, but now is the time to .......nevermind

First, let me offer my condolences to everyone at USA Jet. I don't get on the Cargo boards much and just found this today, or I'd have posted sooner. I've been laid off twice, once from a failed carrier, and terminated without notice, so I know exactly how you're feeling and,,, it sucks. Wish there was more going on domestically. :(

Where do you think the Falcons will end up, when I got in Saturday 812 was in the hangar so that leads me to believe that they are getting them ready to go somewhere. They told me that they are not coming back, and I have a hard time believing that they are just going to park them for good.
Kalitta probably won't be getting them. There isn't much freight flying on the Falcons at all except for the DoD contract, I watch our website daily and the only Falcon that moves besides DOD seems to be the pax F20.

Can anyone tell me what it might be like working on the other side of the field at Kalitta Charters?
A few of us were waiting to get dual-qualified PIC in the F20 then they hired some off-the-street F20 CA's for a class that just started this month.

As one of the other guys mentioned, Elroy said the next class may not be until Sep/Oct, as there's not much movement of people leaving and not much in the way of new aircraft additions.

The additional Lears was actually the addition of ONE LR25 to AAS. They had pulled one off AAS back in May, down to two aircraft, then added one back the beginning of July, then added another one this last Monday, up to 4 now. The down-side is that they aren't flying as much now. What was starting to pick up with 3 airplanes is diluted to 3 trips a week with 4 aircraft. It's picking up a little, let's hope that continues, and that the contract is renewed next month.

As far as getting rid of 25's... I haven't seen the ads, so I can't comment on that. We could probably stand to sell 2, there's always 2 that are kind of sitting, one in MOR and one in YIP. If we get the other contract we're working on, that's for a 35, so we'll probably need a few more LR crews if any of the USA Jet guys have time in type and some PIC jet time.

Would you continue to chase the PIC Jet time right now, or would you take a hit and go to a stable piston prop job?
If you have the 1,000 PIC Turbine, I'd say get on with a fractional like Citation Shares or Netjets and camp out. Then again, I'm not too hip on 121 jobs these days, wish I'd have stayed put in the Fractional world when I was there to begin with. Hindsight and all...

How do you go about looking into becoming a sim instructor at Simuflight / Flight Safety?
I have a buddy who did that after quitting Omni (he hated the schedule), he just went to their websites, searched the jobs sections, and applied. Be forewarned, if they even get a WHIFF that you're seeking another job while you're there or that you might want to fly again during your interview, you're history.

I am open to all positive suggestions at this point, rent is coming due quickly.
Corporate and Charter jobs: www.willflyforfood.cc

Overseas 121 jobs: www.climbto350.com

www.propilotworld.org - yeah, I said it. Shoot me. Their jobs section is GREAT for referrals. There isn't NEARLY as much mud-slinging as there is here which isn't as much fun for entertainment value, but it's a much more professional community. That's why I only glance at the Majors board on FI, too much garbage most of the time.

FWIW, if you want to fly for Kalitta Air, DO NOT, under ANY circumstance, go to work for Charters. I am very grateful for the job they gave me, but I received an interview call at Air my 1st day in ground school at Charters (I had put resumes in at both). They wouldn't interview me at Air since I was already in Basic Indoc at Charters and the only way you can go to Air is if you go through the "flow-through program" which is, in all likelihood, a carrot that won't ever happen. Apply to Air and wait, an internal rec helps, it takes up to a month to hear back from them.

I didn't realize any other KC people were on here, Punisher, your avatar is funny, reminds me of MH in MOR, but your background says Civy, so I guess not. ;)

YIP... well,,, I'll have to say the one comment about pursuing the degree got a laugh out of me, but only momentarily, as I know this is painful for you, too. You're taking the ribbing in good grace, which says a lot about your character. Good on ya'. :)

Jeez guys, hope DK(or the rest of mgmt) isn't reading today! Don't tell them too much!

We're everwhare! You will soon find out, Punisher has no idea what he is talking about most of the time.

What ever happened to the pax Falcon you guys had over there? If it was still around, is that going too? Also, just curious, what serial numbers were some of the freighters if anyone recalls? Just wondering.

What ever happened to the pax Falcon you guys had over there? If it was still around, is that going too?

It has been for sell for a at least a year and a half and has not flown in about 60 days. Last time I flew it one of the owners looked at his son and said, "Enjoy it while you can, this plane will not be around much longer." I didn't think much of it because I knew the Pax bird had been for sell for some time.

We also parked one of our 2 pax Lear Jets.

Netjets

A few years ago, there was a furlough at USA Jet and NetJets gave preferential treatment to those folks in the interviewing and hiring process (BH connection). Can't say that it will happen now, but maybe it's worth exploring.....
