Obviously the pay issue makes it very difficult here but I'm having trouble finding ANY other reason to return to U (besides maybe a little SJS for the 757).
Thanks for the input, really. I need all the help I can get!
First, don't work there, but do have quite a few friends that do, some been there a while and some recent recalled furloughees. Regarding the "SJS for the 757" word from them, with the current fleet plan (and the Bus order), they are going to keep only about 20 of the 757s, the rest are going away in the next few years. Not sure what they are planning for the 767s, but they are getting up there in years, so probably will be replaced with new Airbi (or is Airbuses).
I think they said that 'days off' on reserve is 11 days a month; and if you are on 'long call' reserve, you can still be transitioned to 'short call' on I guess 10-12hrs (not sure of the time frame), if they need additional 'short call' reserve coverage. They also say that only 4 of the days off are 'immovable' the others can be made into 'work days' and replaced elsewhere on your line. I have seen some of their 'reserve lines' and most only have one block of 4-5 days off in a row, the rest are 2-3 day blocks in the line. Seems like it would be tough at times, if you did not live in base.
Just some of the info that I have heard, not sure if it helps. Just trying to pass on what I have heard, for what's its worth.
DA
P.S. Not sure why people are changing their minds after accepting recall, but I have heard the same thing as others have said here; recent classes have had like 40-60% 'no-shows' or drop-outs. Again, just try to pass on what I have heard. Tough decision, especially when you are not sure what the 'QOL' may turn out to be, Good Luck.
