I could have tried to make the same move, if I'd wanted to do so. I may end up there one of these days anyway. At the time that some of my other options woulda/shoulda/coulda been considered I've been happily employed, with LCC as a backup plan that would seemingly never reach the jeopardy stage. Now that it's here and it offers some measurable benefits (at the expense of others) if I return it's become a lot more serious of an issue.

But that's all beside the point. If you guys (not so much you in particular phxflyr) don't wanna listen to us work through this then simply stop reading. Don't take shots just because you're better off and/or can't relate to what we're dealing with right now.

Some of you guys have been helpful. Thank you for that.

Hey...you're welcome. Glad to hear I was more of a help rather than a hinderence.:) Although that kinda comes as a shock to Mama and the kids (they think my people skills suck! ;) ). You know.I'm no shrink so take this for what its worth.but there are 2 things I ve noticed in your posts and Furloughed again's missives. First ,I think you guys are reaching the crossover point where you are starting to over analyze everything. No doubt you both have been thru the ringer the last several years and I too would be leery of going back, but by the same token you don't want to suffer from "paralysis by analysis",either. Sooner or later you're gonna have to stop asking questions, make your decision, hold your breath, and take the plunge. Also if you do decide to come back, maybe it would be better if you came back with the mindset that it isnt the same airline that you left, nor is it the nightmare that you think it is. This way, you have no pre-conceived notions as to what to expect. Anyway just some thoughts and observations.Good luck with your decision. Keep us posted on what you guys decide.

I think both Swaayze and I have made our decisions. Maybe, subconsciously, we came on here looking for people to validate them for us -- tell us we're making the right moves.

I think we were both surprised at the number of people who are so quick to tell us to go back into the fray. That complicated what was already pretty clear thinking.

The other day I was actually wishing that I had never taken THIS job, because my last job sucked and would've been easy to quit. I'm definitely losing sleep over this thing.

I wouldn't lose sleep over it. After all, whatever you decide, it seems like you'll land up with a fairly decent job. Maybe not exactly what you envisioned when you first started out flying ,but still not bad none the less. Who knows? Maybe when you get done analyzing the pros and the cons of each job,and find that they both come offer the same number of each ,it will come down to something as simple as heads USAir ,tails Lear best 2 out of 3 coin tosses takes it.Either way, good luck with your decision. Keep us posted.

In my case, I'm trying to chase the money! BIGGG pay-cut for me...4th year pay on the 320 is $73/hr. 3rd year its $62!!! OUCH!!!!
I thought that when someone gets recalled from a furlough he/she retains the longevity pay, so no one at USAirways should be getting recalled to a 3rd or a 4th year pay rate, correct?

Let’s say a 1999 “new-hire” gets recalled today - he/she would be going directly to the 8-year pay scale, correct? So maybe going back wouldn’t be so hard economically after all? I probably got it all wrong...

Yeah, you did get it all wrong!! You do not acrue longevity on furlough! I believe the Mid Atlantic guys/gals are the only ones that will take their longevity time spent with them if they return!
IMHO, going back is not always about the $$$.
