Ya really, The America West management team was so good to the AWA pilots (look at their current ALPA negotiated contract) I hope APA really understands who is really trying to buy them.
Ummm, FYI....The term sheet / TA that is being inked is based on the current AWA contract (sans some of the GOOD stuff that we do have: 5:15/day, Full pay MECH, Full pay Cancel, Short Term Disability, etc.).
The contract that I currently work under NOW is pretty darned good. I would vote that same contract in w/ the term sheet rates in a NY minute. You can read the contract on Wings. You would get more information that way vs. listening to what your reps say (IMHO).

Hey Eric! The NAC put together a 26 page slide show and briefed the BPR on June 7. It is on the USAPA web site but I'm gonna guess you can't access it, can you? Here are some of what is in that presentation. There is more to a contract than rates and this "Term Sheet" agreement makes every section except the rates worse. Medical cost higher, reserve guarantee lower, per diem lower (1.80 an hour), trip rig worse, sick bank worse, company paid life insurance worse, no min fleet/min utilization rates and others. Ya the rates are better but they are really low for the 81 to 118 seat aircraft (Capt TOS $124) and there is no language limiting the amount of 737 size (group 2) aircraft being replaced by the really low paying E195 type aircraft. Currently we have a min utilization rate in our contract and a few years ago the company violated it but we won the arbitration. My point is when it is already IN the contract and they violate it what do you think they will do if it's not? The term sheet is unacceptabe to us eastinfections.
I be not Eric, Jack....sorry....Chuck.
I have not said that the term sheet is acceptable. I did say that much of the term sheet is based on the current AWA contract (specifically scheduling, PBS, vacation, etc.). The term sheet by itself is also not acceptable by the westicles. Holy crap we agree on something!
If the merger comes to fruition, the final product/contract will be the one that APA agrees to with LCC management. We have been advising APA and trying to convince them that there needs to be improvements (especially given what AMR has now agreed to in a TA and what the new Delta TA is). As such we are not in the drivers seat. Heck, we are only recently released from bondage in the trunk of the car.
I would vote for a TA that had my entire inclusive contract, 3 years to mature (avg of DL/UA) and the term sheet rates (with the exception of the E190/195 pay - needs to match JBLU) in a heartbeat.
Let us NOT forget that USAPA walked away from 27 CLOSED sections of a JCBA. When asked if they should adopt those closed sections and press on....."NO, we're gonna do it the USAPA way. We'll get a new TA in 90 days!" (that was over 4 years ago. USAPA = Winning!)
Sorry you just look so much like him!
