Issue #1:
It's the pilots' and f/a's fault...

AP
Contracts keeps US Airways from trimming capacity
Wednesday June 18, 4:59 pm ET
By Chris Kahn, AP Business Writer
Exec: US Airways could cut more flights, better deal with fuel if not for labor contracts

PHOENIX (AP) -- US Airways President Scott Kirby said Wednesday the airline could handle fuel costs a bit better if it weren't for labor agreements that affect the size of its fleet. Kirby said Tempe, Ariz.-based US Airways Group Inc. could trim another 2 percent to 4 percent from its seating capacity if it didn't have pilot and flight attendant contracts in place.

Issue #2:
The furlough is because USAir didn't take the CA's it had hired.

Issue #3
US already said that they will not pull from the whollys, they said that they will pull from the contracts, and they already have from MESA. MESA's 50 seaters are coming up and US are canceling them one by one. PSA is OK for now..............

From the April Conference Call:

Question posed by Jamie Baker - JPMorgan

"Good morning, everybody. First question I guess for Scott; I know there is a minimum main line fleet requirement in your ALPA contract. I see that you are moving a little bit closer to that with today’s 737 announcements but it isn’t clear to me what sort of flexibility you still have on the regional side. Are you already at contractual minimums with those contracts, or is there more downsizing you can do in that regard?"

Response by J. Scott Kirby

"The only downsizing we can do of any material amount is reducing utilization. We have a couple percent more that we can go on the main line in terms of fleet and we can go several more percent in terms of reducing aircraft utilization, some of which you will see starting in September that we’ll be reducing utilization.

On the regional side, we have significant flexibility with our turbo prop operations, of which we have about 70 aircraft. Our RJ -- we could reduce that as much as we want and on the RJ operation, we are contractually limited. I mean, we are at our core minimums, though we could reduce utilization more. "

In other words, the only place to reduce below the contract minimum is at the W/O carriers.

Yup. Another fine jam the eedjits up top have gotten us into, huh? They HAVE about 33 of them. They CAN park them all, let PDT guys go out the door, and let the RJ kiddies do their thing at a substantial loss. They'd bleed the coffers dry after Doug and the Merry Brew Clan parked Piedmont.

I was dead wrong about my outlook on how ********************ract carriers would burn out, but I was dead right as to why I carried that feeling.

Ah, well.

Wonder what Stanley and Limp Dick Queer Coeling will pull out of their arse to explain this one.

PSA brothers.....get out and do it now! TK has marching orders to start pulling flying down in an attempt to deal with the clostly 50 seat RJ. Not good.....

Good luck Blustreakers..........Local ALPA Weak + High Oil = TK f..in around with numbers again

Awww....I think we found someone who's mommy didn't touch them enough when they were born :(. Maybe she touched him too much....LOL. So, what is your beef with Stanley and Coeling? More importantly, how do you know so much about Coeling's 'personal parts'???? Lemme guess...you asked him out on a date and he said he wasn't interested? Is that why you have such a hardon for him?

Your attitude is really unfortunate. If you hate the industry and your peers so much, go somewhere else! McDonalds is hiring :)

Good luck to the rest of us....

Does anyone know how many block hours PSA lost for July. In round 2 there are 60 reserve lines for Captains and 82 for First Officers. Are the 27 FO's on the street just the tip of the iceberg? Maybe I should hold off on buying a crashpad car.

Have a bad feeling its just the tip of the ice berg! If the above post is accurate then PSA will get cut even more it appears as RAH/AWAC/Mesa feast. But guess we will have to see. I can tell ya I have my stuff in with SKW already and have about 80 below me. But that means crap thus the reason I'm looking else where.

Just so there is no confusion, the last line was my own editorial comment and conclusion (outside of the "").

DAY actually has more flying for July. Something like 39 lines in round 1 vs the normal 32-33.

I dont think the main reduction is until September.

increase

System wide it was an increase of about 4%. Each base got within 1% of that number. However it looks like they increased the average number of block hours on each line. I think it is stupid that we have guys out on furlough and 95 hour flying lines.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but for you guys who are saying the sky is not falling, etc...your right, its not, yet..And who knows what will happen, but you sure as sh$t better be thinking about back up plans...

Keep in mind DAY lines increased last month too. But the total hours appears to have decreased some along the lines. Most days off are 15-13. None with less then 12. Which is something you could blame on the reduction of hours. Or at least it would seem that way.

Keep in mind part of the reason for the furloughs is because of mainline.

They stopped taking people from PSA/PDT. Originally, mgmt beefed up the pilot roster counting on that certain percentage going to mainline (mostly), as well as normal attrition. Now that NOBODY is hiring, we are stagnant and overstaffed. Really, furloughs are because of this more than any reduction in flying.

We apologize. We did not realize you are an aircraft OWNER. Can you hook me up with one of those really cool AOPA baseball caps?

Not even close. Now go back to the FBO and show off your new Sporty's flight bag.
