How CHEAP/EFFECIENT are you willing too go? There's a certain standard of living most americans are accustomed too. If keeping up and competing against Air Vietnam means living off of Air Vietnam wages....are you willing?

I would suggest that people read the July 25th issue of Fortune magazine, particularly an article entitled "Can Americans Compete?".

It is a scary look at the outsourcing of US jobs. Not just manufacturing, but also high-tech, accounting, and now labor.

Senator Ted Stevens (Alaska) got a bill passed that now allows "limited" cabotage by foreign cargo operators. Unfortunately, I think this has opened the door to more bad news for our industry in the future. The bill allows cargo carriers, such as Cathay Pacific Cargo, to pick up local freight in Anchorage (and maybe Fairbanks also) and take that freight to another U.S. location (such as JFK). Prior to this bill, this action was not allowed. If this starts happening in the passenger side of the industry we could see Korean Air flying passengers from LAX to JFK.
