Thanks for the crew assignments. I find it interesting. Anyword on the schedule during indoc and did anyone get some time off between indoc and aircraft training?

Hasn't everything been IAD (plus BWI, DCA) or SFO (plus Oakland and San Jose) until now?

Most of the Airbus assignments had about 3 weeks off between indoc and the qual course. Some of the 737 slots will be going right into the aircraft training after just a few days.

Any rhyme or reason to the way seniority is handed down in class? It's just random computer generated number?

Thanks,
In 12/10 class.

Oh, what's the word on where people are staying in DEN for class.

Senior guy in the class is 0001 and junior guy is 9999 based on last four of your social security number.

There are very few affordable options for hotels. We had a few guys at the Doubletree and Radisson. There is an extended stay hotel on Quebec for 800/month but we had one person's car broken into there..so they packed up and left. We also had a handful of people staying with family / friends in the area.

Seniority based off SSAN is new. Everything I heard until now was that seniority was randomly generated for new hire classes. The SSAN low to high bodes much better for me.

Has anyone looked at long term rental cars or if there are any used car lots that would sell a jalopy real cheap and possibly buy it back in 6 weeks?

I rented a car from Airline Auto Rental. It is in the hallway of the Radisson Hotel. You can get a beater for $540 for 4 weeks, $161 for a week, or $25.99 a day. It is run by a retired airline couple. 303-333-2143 is the number.

Actually, SSN has been used before.
I was in the group of 570 in 1985 and in my class of 20 (?) got the best seniority with a number of -02xx.

I would give some thought to skipping the car altogether. I drove mine out, but I don't think the amount I used it justified it. You'll take shuttles to and from the airport, some of the hotels offer shuttles downtown, and the Stapleton area now offers quite a bit to do right around TK. The biggest reason to have on is if you are not going home on your days off and want to explore.

Is there really time to go home during Indoc? Seems M-F 9-5, then a long flight home, only to have to come back Sunday for Monday morning doesn't seem worth it. Especially since you'll probably be in big trouble if your flight cancels and you are late to class.

I sent you a PM.

I came home during Indoc. I was able to make a 4pm flight on Friday and was home by 11. Granted it was a short stay...caught the 3pm on Sunday back to Denver. The flights are very full...but they will give you positive space to your domicile or home of record. The trick is to get your reservation authorized as early as possible and give yourself a backup or two.

Theres not a whole lot to worry about during Indoc especially if you are going to have a long break before the qual course. If you've worked at any airline before, the Indoc is going to sound very familiar. We had a couple guys that were starting the qual course 4 days after Indoc and they were always busy studying ahead. The rest of us were at the bar in the Double Tree solving all the world's problems.

Is the Double Tree looking like the hotel of choice for most guys during training? I'm all about solving the world's problems!
