Any suggestions for getting the application typed? I don't think typewriters are sold anymore.

S.

Uh, it's an online application. What you used to type your post will probably work.

Professional = typed
Unprofessional = hand-written

When I interviewed w/ SWA, I couldn't believe how bad some of the other guys' application packages looked because they were hand-written...IN PENCIL!!! Go to the local secretariat--they'll type a blank application for you in 30 min--and it is worth every penny!

A local secretariat? I'll look in the phone book for that.

I guess I wasn't clear for some folks. I'm talking about the interview package that needs to be completed and turned in at the interview.

I posted this a while back. You can go to the Adobe website and download a trial version of the latest Acrobat Standard. Acrobat Reader will not work. Acrobat Standard has a typewriter tool that will let you type directly on to the documents SWA emails. It really works slick. Good luck to all. This is a great company. Heard a rumor today in the training department that a major announcement is going to be made sometime in June. No other details were released. Stay tuned!

typewriter

Most local libraries still have typewriters available for public use. And since we are all cheap pilots, they allow you to use them for free.

Best wishes!

Look in the phone book under secretarial service. I made photo copies of the forms and hand wrote the answers on those, had the originals typed up for a few $ a page.

Wow! Now that's a real trick! A dead racing horse can type applications. I'd have though he'd have gone into studding after his racing career.:laugh:

IT's the professional version. I did the same thing. It's only good for 30 days. Here is the link:

Well I guess they liked my UNprofessional look then. I hand wrote mine in black ink. They really dont give a rats behind as long as it is filled out correctly and honestly.

I used PDF Editor (Google it) for mine. Easy to use and looked really nice after everything was printed. Only had to sign the signature lines and that was it.

Ditto for me as well. I was going to type it and all my SWA buds said not to waste the time. "This isn't Delta", I believe one of them said (His words-not mine).

Handwriting worked for me, however, with the tools available, it's not too hard to type and make it look good.

I saved mine into PowerPoint and it worked very well too, as I didn't have (and was too cheap to pay for) the professional adobe version.

No matter what - TYPE not handwrite. As for finding the typewriter - Have your wife/g-friend send out a mass email to her book club/friends asking to borrow one. I had a reply same day. When I was done she wanted me to keep it but I refused, I didn't want her brick either.

Good luck!!

This was the easiest method, scanned the docs and then save them on powerpoint slides, from there just add text boxes.

The hard part is when you add up your hours and come up with a different total 6-9 times like I did.

re-check your hours spread sheet a week prior to the interview and make sure it matches what you have online with SWA.

They printed out our online info a few days before the interview date

I know it's easier said than done, but RELAX and be yourself.

Best of luck

Hand written is just fine

I called SWA's current Manager of Pilot Hiring about this very issue a few weeks before my interview (18 months ago). He said not to waste the time typing it. If your handwriting sucks, get someone else to do it neatly but they do not care about having them typed. They just want to be able to read it!

Oh yea...off probation yesterday ;-)

hand-wrote mine also. if you don't get hired, it was because of you, not whether or not you typed your packet.

Good luck!!
