And for the two hot heads who emailed me I am not going to g0jets I was trying to figure out what the whole issue was, relax have a beer (a good one at that) and relax and enjoy life a bit. I am in the pool at TSA and going to wait till training and I am really excited so back off REDBOOK. jacka$$ same to the other guy can't remember and I don't care.

The company keeps a record of how many people pick up open time and it knows that like say 25% of open time gets picked up voluntarily. So if something goes down and now all of a sudden only 5% of the open time gets picked up out of open time then the company can say that the union did an illegal work action, because all of a sudden not as much open time is getting picked up. Dont know how or why this would be a work action, but apparently it has been viewed as such in the past. Anyways thats why the union can't really tell us to do anything like that. (so for those of you wondering why the union isnt really saying much about this...well they really cant say much because their words might get twisted by lawyers into saying that they organized a work action) However there are plenty of things that can be done legally to help get these guys thier jobs back.
They'd somehow have to prove the union sponsored that activity (or lack of activity) and not individuals acting out of their own sense of morality.great cornholio said:The company keeps a record of how many people pick up open time and it knows that like say 25% of open time gets picked up voluntarily. We usually refer to people who like to make extra money by picking up "overtime" as it should be called as HARD WORKERS. Don't let the union brainwash you to that extreme, I understand the point, but for goodness sakes, if someone wants to work extra and make a little more money for kids college, retirement or whatever, they have every right to do so and should never be limited by their union in any way. However there will always be a bunch of money whores who will pick it up no matter what anyone else says.
You had 20 potential hard workers ready and waiting to fly but cut them loose to save a few bucks. A lot of them probably left jobs or reorganized their lives to work there and were shown the door. Nice.UEJ500 said:We usually refer to people who like to make extra money by picking up "overtime" as it should be called as HARD WORKERS.

I don't care who tells me not to pick up open time or even if DARIO himself tells me my name will be put on a "scab" list if I do. I should not be deprived of more income because of any of this.
Pull your head out of the sand and realize that the company didn't furlough these guys because some of us are picking up open time.

I believe you have it backwards, kinda seflish for the union to prey upon guys who might NEED the extra money and use scare tactics like this to keep guys from doing it. Not all of us can get fired and still earn a living for over a year.. With that mentality you should go work for Go Jets. With that mentality you'll fit right in......me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me.....I'm speachless
millhouse21 said:You know, the fact that D'Angelo is in favor of picking up open time right is a great argument against it. I won't say nobody should pick up overtime right now but I will say that anybody who does should just send in their app to Go Jet. There, I said it.
