TSA Furloughs 20!

I know alot of guys who are on furlough and I for one will sit on the couch and pick up no open time on reserve, I don't care if I fly 2 hours a month which is what i am usually given

Nothing personal however picking up the open time has no effect. The company planned on furloughing no matter what. Being on furlough certainly does suck but again there is no direct correlation between not picking up open time and the number of furloughs. If I was on furlough then it probably means times are tough for many people. I would have no problem with someone picking up a little OT while im on the street. Thats just buisness and life.

I assure you I am real. Generally I lay low at comair however I am usually not approached about these type issues. It really ticked me off however when the comair guys thought they could use their thug tactics to stop me from picking up open time. When I saw they were posting on here it was too much. Time for my voice to be heard as well. Unions listen up no one wants a collective voice anymore! Quit using scare tactics and quit trying to convince people they are total morons without a union to hold their hand and help them learn to go pee pee too.

Thug Tactics???? I just read this whole thread again. Did I miss something? All I saw one of my own posts editted and taken out of context. You really need to raise your bar for thuggery as there have not been any threats or promises of any retribution made by ANY person. I will restate myself. Its a personal decision. If someone at TSA needs to pick up time to support themselves, go for it. If you need to pick up time to buy a new X box.... please wait a while until the guys are back. For me, I promise that I will never ask or look on crew track to see who has picked up open time. Its not my business. I hope I wasn't too thuggish or offensive for the more sensitive types here.

A. You have a problem with your medical.

B. Find out you're being investigated by the FAA cause you missed a crossing restriction.

C. You fail your next checkride.

I'm sure with your knowledge and ability you'll have no problem taking care of yourself. D'angelo you, by far, are the worst type of pilot we have on this message board. You continually display your selfish attitude and your dislike for organized labor. Remember if you ever need any help with regards towards your glorious aviation career, ALPA will be there to even help a TOOL like you.

I didn't see any "thug" tactics in your postings. Just some opinions on what is right or wrong. Hulas and friends laugh all the way to the bank when their tactics create pilot vs. pilot discord. I suggest all feelings of ill will be directed the source and not at other pilots, who may be coping with a difficult situation in their own, quiet way.

If I can get a special issuance I willl get the process started, perhaps ask an attorney for some help. 2 the condition is disqualifying and guess what game over anyway. Theres nothing the union can do if you simply cant even hold a special issuance medical.

B. If you are upfront and forthcoming both with the FAA and your chief pilot you will prevail. I believe there are non union airlines that have ASAP too. I am not sure. If I had ASAP then I Can type the report myself. If not then admit you screwed up and move on. Most likely you will ge a slap on the wrist. If you fill out the ASAP you are covered. If you do not but still fess up about the situation you will not get fired and you will probably get a letter of correction in your file. The union cant save you if you havent filled out an ASAP nor can they make the letter in your file look any less good or bad.

C. If you fail a checkride so what? You learn from your mistakes and move on. If you fail a checkride every single time then the union should not keep your job. If you fail one every now and then it certainly wont be a deal breaker. You learn from your mistakes and move on. Jesus the union really does prey on fear. They want you to be so afraid you could lose your job at every turn and couldnt do anything without them.

You can tell ALPO no thanks for the help. Ill reluctantly pay for now so I can vote however I will never be asking them for help. I shouldnt be posting this stuff the union may want to kill me now that people start to realize they really dont need a union.

People are starting to realize that they can speak for themselves and there is more than one way to do things in this crazy world called aviation. Unions are all about control. They want everyone to talk the same speak the same and think the same. Forget it people are capable of speaking for themselves. unions are scared of that because they then lose their control

In all of the examples you have listed above, it is ALPA who has helped to facilitate those possibilities. ALPA Aeromedical, Safety, and Training committees have worked in conjuction with the FAA and airline management for years to ALLOW you the option to work out those issues. I am not a "thug union member" but I do understand and apreciate all that ALPA has done to help pilots who find themselves in less than ideal situations. I think it would be wise for you to show a little apreciation for the work that has been done to make your life as a pilot easier.
