It's (negotiations) nearing an end game. I believe like most companies they want to get to a 30 day cooling off period, hoping that the Union will flinch or blink as the case may be. Of course that goes for both sides we hope the company flinches as well. I think in the end our NC isn't asking for too much, the writing is on the wall and our FOs who are grossly under paid along with our captains will get their much deserved raises.

Next few weeks are going to be interesting as the numbers come out. We are finally going to see exactly what we are asking from the union and sooner or later the company is going to put a counter proposal out there and show us how much they value our hard work. Expect to hear alot of management spin about how our proposal's cost increases will prevent us from being able to afford future deliveries.

I told my wife today we need to find another couple hundred bucks to trim from the family budget until things have been resolved. Luckily my wife is a FA and understands the battle. They are in negotiations for their next contract (it better be after ours).

Don't be a defeatist. It is not dead. It is however behind the curve of Europe. We need some bigtime high profile strikes in this country. AirTran quite possibly may be the first one, with more to follow from other majors.

So if management's proposals are inadequate, at what point is mediation pursued? Are the talks currently under any sort of scrutiny by federal mediators?

The union came out with an e-mail today saying that the company has walked away from the table. Also the mediator is thinking about canceling the rest of the scheduled meeting dates for march. Sounds like a perfect time for a strike vote to me.

Brief summary:
Last two sections were put on the table. Pay and Scheduling. Management threw a predictable tantrum (read as standard posturing). Mediator decided nothing else could be accomplished that day so the rest of the session was convened for the afternoon (it was the last day of talks). Company requested next weeks talks be canceled (read as more posturing). No response yet from mediator on that.

No one walked away from the table. Talks are still on for March. Nothing has been canceled.

This is all predictable and SOP for contract talks/maneuvering. Stay tuned.

So when trips are awarded to another pilot can you see if proper seniority was used, or how someone was paid?

Can you see how much coverage there is on a given day, or what another pilot's protected rest period is? Or are the issues different ones?

If you did not read it then STFU.....nobody want to hear what you heard from a FA probably....read first....type second...not a difficult concept.

Even if this is a true statement for your particular situation, you probably need to start posting you are prepared financially to take a strike for a week, month, or whatever it takes to get a contract that rewards our hard work. Or just email Klaus and tell him your financial status guaratees you won't go on strike when ALPA asks you too.

You can be assured the MEC and SPC are working with ALPA working on a timeline that maximizes our leverage over the next several months.

The words the MEC is using is predictable and transparent scheduling. That is definitely a fair and achievable goal.
