Here we go! If I had a penny for everything I've heard that.. and then we wind up with mediocre pilots that have no place in aviation because "She" looks good.

btw.... I enjoy doing the walk around, I think it's almost the highlight of a flight.. getting up close and personal with one's airplane!

The walk around is the best, part you get away from the capt that only complains about his job (should move on instead of B!tch) and the flt att that complains about everything (I always let the bad ones know that no waitress makes more than they do, no waitress gets flt benefits, and no waitress gets medical). been called in twice for that comment and the chief pilot laughed

I was flying with a MALE FO that rarely did the preflight, yeah at this company it was the FOs duties. One day, it was raining, and he comes out to the plane late, and sits in his seat, without doing the preflight. We boarded the pax and the FA closed the door. The first thing on the checklist was "preflight...............complete". I questioned him on his "doing the preflight", he said, "its raining". Had him open the cabin door and go do a preflight.

Lets just say, he wasnt my favorite FO, and I wasnt his favorite captain.

Just when you thought you've heard it all............

I flew with a (male) FO who didn't want to do the walk around because he had hair gel in his hair and was going to meet his girlfriend. He was afraid his spike gel hair would collapse making his hair flat. God forbid ..the ego is just as bad with the guys.

Was he with Mesa?

Walk Around

How do you guys do it in places like Ottowa, Toronto, Montreal; Canada when it is winter and I mean WINTER say - C Plus windchill?

pre flight, no biggy. try loading freight into a falcon 20 with the cargo door open and snow is blowing into the cockpit. or when it is so cold it hurts to breath.

This one time, I did a walkaround when the weather was (really cold) and the wind was (really blowing) and the plane was (really the same POS I landed eight minutes prior) and I (really don't give a shyt).

Not true, almost all full time wait staff get both. My mother-in-law is a career waitress and has worked for Denny's, Coco's and a couple of other chains and they're all paying good bene's she with tips she clears about $45K/yr working 7-8 hours/day 5 days/week.. so your CA's are far off.

No $hit! I just can't even believe this would ever be an issue.

Anyone that would purposely not do a preflight should be fired immediately....it's a safety issue and NO I AM NOT KIDDING!

I know this chick, seriously, she was fired from my co. for something along the same lines.

As the FI.com resident sexist (Capt Mega can attest), I just want to say that I am certain that Gender and Walk Arounds are very unlikely linked. Now, position (i.e. Captain) and walk around, that's another story!

There we do sprint-arounds.

Don't worry guys all these little girls will be at FedEx or UPS after they get their 100 hrs of PIC. Then some other little Barbie girl will fill her spot!

Of course. That's a skill that my education at a large Northern Midwest collegiate flight program got me. Now if only my company would get rid of post-flight walk arounds.
