To hell with the walk around...if you are talking about the one I think you're talking about, I have heard from several captains that she just can't land the plane worth a sh!t. I don't care if she does a walk around or not if she's going to try and kill everyone during the flight! I'll go ahead and be a sexist @ss...why do the women who suck get to stick around? It's unsafe and makes the rest of us look like idiots. I know of a few guys that weren't as bad as some of the women and they got led out the back door. It's not sexual discrimination to fire someone for not being able to do their job!

Now, before all you reactionary types get your tits in a twist, I'm not saying women can't fly...AT ALL. Some of the most professional pilots I know are women. I'm just saying that being a woman is no reason to special treatment when people's lives are put in danger. Flame away.

Don't make me have to kick your a$$ you little baboon! You don't even know what you are talking about.

Don't worry guys all these little girls will be at FedEx or UPS after they get their 100 hrs of PIC. Then some other little Barbie girl will fill her spot!

I don't think this is a sexist comment. I mean, I'm female, I bust my a$$, I don't think I'm Chuck Yeager or anything but I am a good pilot. I think the female pilots that suck and are unsafe shouldn't get to stick around. They make female pilots that are good pilots look bad. I have seen plenty of male and some female pilots that suck and both have gotten to "stick around". It's unfortunate but that's what we get for being in our little sue happy society. Until companies stop being afraid to fire people because they might sue, this will continue to go on.

Not that I want to get dragged into this and arguing with MD seems to be a bad move, but having said that: Boys gets fired all the time without HR cringing, girls on the other hand is often a recipe for a lawsuit.

The question isn't whether bad pilots should be fired, they should, but since it is a male dominated bussiness, it is easy to think gender discrimination had something to do when a female pilot is let go, even if it was for subpar piloting skills.

Sort of akin to divorces, the mother could be smoking crack to high heavens etc., yet often the courts give her custody.

Of course, if the story of this female F/O really is true, then it would seem a nice little visit with the chiefpilot would be in order.

Here we go! If I had a penny for everything I've heard that.. and then we wind up with mediocre pilots that have no place in aviation because "She" looks good.

btw.... I enjoy doing the walk around, I think it's almost the highlight of a flight.. getting up close and personal with one's airplane!

I like doing the walkaround because, with the APU running, I can say things like "I f#cking hate my job!!!" at the top of my lungs or sing and nobody can hear me...but that's just me.

Carry on...

Somebody skipped a walk around! Mother of god how could anyone possibly not do this cornerstone of safety. I like to get to the plane about an hour early that gives me enough time to get the job done right. First I do a walk around without the APU on. That noise can distract even the most senior FO. I then do a second walk around with the APU running to inspect the vital APU door region. This "two lap technique" also allows me to see if any puddles on the ground have expanded... The teltale sign of a leak.

When we land I'm usually off before the passengers to do my first lap. I usually wait until all services are completed before the second lap. That of course allows me to see if the ramp crews have done any damage.

To the accident waiting to happen punk who suggested weather conditions change the speed or frequency of a walk around I say... Hang it up you piece of garbage... You bring shame to an industry that prides itself on the finest trained 250 hours pilots in the world.

....says the girl with "Don't need any [ratings], I'm a chick" in her profile.

It's a joke son......targeted at the fools that say we all get hired with 100 hours TT at UPS.

Don't worry, I'm sure I have more ratings than you stud muffin.
