Nevermind-found it.

I was wondering when this story first broke where the ACLU, Al Sharpton and the likes who fight for civil rights where? Oh wait, they were not around because it's not a story to benefit their cause. It would not generate much grease for the correct squeaky wheel.
The ACLU submitted an amicus curiae brief. The essence of it is, don't touch Title VII of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act. The Supreme Court granted their wish and based the opinion on Title VII itself. In essence, when the city threw out the exams solely because the results were racially skewed, they violated Title VII by dicriminating based on race.

Affirmative Action is just discrimination in reverse. Thanks to the supreme court for fixing what the lower courts could not. Finally a little common sense being displayed, now if we can just get congress and the white house to show some (about as likely as me winning the lottery).

Here's to the supreme court, and buck ofama

If whites are so superior as you claim, how come most players in the NBA are BLACK?

to say that NFL and NBA players are a good example of intellegent black people is a huge insult to intellegent black people. Have you ever seen sports interviews? Nothing you say has any validity.

Then how come there are more African Americans in jail than whites?

I think that it's got something to do with committing crimes, but I could be mistaken. Maybe you could tell me why successive waves of minority immigrants to this country have had no trouble moving up the socioeconomic ladder instead wallowing in a sense of entitlement and celebrating a popular culture that glorifies antisocial behavior and abject human failure.

> Michael Richards better known as Kramer from TVs Seinfeld does make a good point.

> This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act. He makes some very interesting points...

> Someone finally said it.. How many are actually paying attention to this? There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc..

> And then there are just Americans. You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction. You call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman'... and that's OK.

> But when I call you, N****r, Kike, Towel head, Sand-n****r, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink .. You call me a racist.

> You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you... so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

> You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day.

> You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day.

> You have Yom Hashoah. You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.

> You have the NAACP. You have BET.. If we had WET (White Entertainment Television), we'd be racists. If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists.

> If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.

> If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives, we'd be racists.

> We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce. Wonder who pays for that??

> A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.

> If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships... You know we'd be racists.

> There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US Yet if there were 'White colleges', that would be a racist college.

> In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights.. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

> You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists..

> You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

> I am proud... But you call me a racist.

> Why is it that only whites can be racists??

> There is nothing improper about this e-mail.. Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's why we have LOST most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't stand up for ourselves!

> BE PROUD TO BE WHITE!

> It's not a crime YET.. but getting very close!

Does anyone know a good place to buy imported dried mangoes from the Philippines?

I've found that the best way to get dried mangos is to buy them locally and then slice them and dehydrate them in the oven (low setting).

Imported dried mangos have sulfites as a preservative, which can lead to antisocial behavior in the personal aroma department.

Oh wow I didn't know that at all!

I've been eating them off and on for the past 5 or 6 years and that would explain a lot.

I figure this thread has run its course so maybe we could use it for more constructive conversation...

I enjoy dried fruit as well. Dried mango is actually my favorite. Much healthier than candy and actually better tasting. It's just a little expensive. The stuff I buy seems to be more natural and packaged in the U.S.

I never was a real big mango fan. I guess it's an acquired taste.

Fresh mango is great too. It's just a little expensive. Currently, something like 2 for $3.00 in my local supermarket. If I stop by an Indian supermarket, they usually have a crate (dozen) for like $10. You can also find Indian TV dinners and a variety of cheap nuts too. I would regularly buy a 4 lb. bag of almonds for $12.00 or so. They even carry pistachios in 4 lb bags but for perhaps $14 dollars. Much cheaper than the chain supermarkets.

I had both the best, freshest mango I've ever had, as well as the absolute worst mango ever, in Costa Rica last month.

The first one was farkin' amazing. The second one tasted like what I would imagine biting into a turd would taste like. I'm not sure what happened with that second one. It wasn't rotten or anything.

That first one though, just wow. I'd love to have some of that dehydrated and shipped to me.

Mango's?????? I thought we were talking about fresh dried Mongoose from the Phillipienes.
