Well, FL000 came up with this most excellent idea which should be an inspired source of information to us all.

My votes go to:
Pensacola, Florida - McGuires Irish Pub
Sydney, Australia - The Orient Hotel
Innsbruck, Austria - Theresein Brau

Flying Saucer-MEM

I believe a brewpub, by definition, would be one where they brew on premises. While the Flying Saucer chain is a GREAT place to get a large variety of craft beer, I don't know of any that brew on premises. I could be wrong. While on the MEM subject, I've heard Bosco's is the joint there.

My overall favorite brewpub in the United States when ranked on more items than just the beer, ends up being the Morgan Street Brewery in St. Louis. They have great beer, awesome food, a sportsbar, a dance club, a solid restaurant, a cigar room. The only thing that place is missing is the "champagne room".

The Brewpub I've found so far making the most appealing beer to me is the Dam Brewery in Keystone, Colorado. Being nearly two-miles high gives it an extra kick too!

WORST BREWPUBS:
-Any Gordon Biersch (although I am impressed by their seasonal hefeweizen).
-The "brewpub" in Surfer's Paradise in Queensland: crap food, dirty place, junk beer. (sure wish I would have known about the Sydney one when I was there.

If anyone is coming to HNL, PM me and I'll give you the lowdown on craft beer in the islands.

Same deal as Flying Saucer...

I repeat, The Brickskeller, DuPont Circle, Washington, DC.

While this looks like one hell of a great place to get a good beer, I still submit that it's not a Brewpub by definition. These places don't craft the beer, they just do a great job of bringing a bunch of craft beers to one location-a great concept, I might add.

Okay, I concede...

Upon re-reading the title of the thread, I see we are talking BEER PUBS and not breweries. You can ignore my previous nit-picking babble about the difference.

Okole Maluna!

Hey there Hugh Jorgan

I was going to comment but you got it.
As far as the Flying Saucer, I like a lot of the beers that they sell and the Girls are pretty Hot, so I like the place.

Might take ya up on the Island beer.

Have a good one!

How about in the Oshkosh area?

I'm thinking about heading to Oshkosh this year. Anyone know of a place to get good craft beer up there?

I haven't been there in years, but there used to be a nice brew-pub in Rapid City. It was called the Firehouse if memory serves, and was located in an old firestation.

For a place to catch a good brew, the Flying Saucer off of Sundance Square in Ft. Worth Texas is pretty nice, especially on a night that some high brow event is happening next door at the Bass Performance hall.

Avon, CO

I don't remember the name of the place or if the beer was good but this place in Avon, CO had the neatest head I ever saw. Over the urinals was a two-way mirror overlooking the bartenders ... yep, you guessed it, all female!

enigma--I was just there in Ft. Worth Sat. night. The patio and porch were hopping!

Any Flying Saucer is good--I especially like the one in LIT. Knee socks and plaid skirts...

Hey! What about the '747 Lounge' at JAX? Howabout it? Anybody? All right, I withdraw.

On foreign soil, I like the Chesterfield Cafe in CDG. Go down the Champs to the Virgin store and turn left. It's a block down on the left. Cheap beer and great looking Dutch, U.S. and British waitresses.TC:

Hey scangadah, you rat ba$tard...you're right, the Pyramid Ale House gets my vote. What was the name of the brewery in downtown Santa Rosa?? They had some really good beers, guess I got too drunk to remember the name.

The Flying Saucer MEM is cool, so much scenery to look at...but the smoke was so think it's hard to breathe. I must be a wuss.

Enigma, you are correct about the Firehouse in RAP. Just down the street from the Radisson, had some layovers there two months ago. Good beer, but too much smoke and not many attractive women to look at. Maybe I was there on a bad night?

I'd have to agree with FlyChicaga's assesment that Chi-town joints are where it's at. My personal fav would be Sheffields, the women are hit or miss, but it seems like they must have close to every beer brewed. Now if only I could get a certain ATA Connection to hire me I'd be all set, the drive to Chicago for beer is killing me.........

There used to be a place in downtown Nashville, TN called the Beer Cellar (if I remember correctly) that had like over 100 different beers on tap. It was located right beneath Hooters (what a view :D ) on 2nd Ave. N.

Hey AA717driver- The 747 is a fine place. Wouldn't call it one of those prissy brew pubs though. At least it doesn't have chicken wire in front of the band like "The Top Rail" on Hwy 114 on the road to DFW. The bad thing about the 747 is Ms. Hajji quit, went back to India or Pakistan. She was a nice lady. My favorite is "Stan's Blue Note", Greenville Ave Dallas. Mason jars and a good juke box with "She ran off with a N****R,- He drove A Pink Mark IV with his name on the door. Well, For crying out load why did you do me that way. I Knew I shouldn't have pulled the trigger. She toke my car I just payed for and ran off with a N****R"-. Great place to relax and play pool on a 110degree day without any jungle music or attitudes from the first time attendee's.

Usually I don't remember the names of them by the time I leave but some of my favorites have been

Foxy's on Jost Van Dyke (the full moon parties are interesting)

William Thorton's anchored off Norman, Island

There was this rooftop bar downtown in the Thamel district of Kathmandu, Nepal where you could sit back have a cold one and watch everybody scramble like ants

Temple District Dublin say no more!!

catbird--pleased to meet a fellow lowlife!:D

Anyone know that place in Appleton, WI that has Christmas lights strung up year-round?TC
