Those guys are few and far between and I am by no means a blue kool-aid drinker. The majority of pilots clean if they want, not if they can. They take care of their business up front first and then maybe after a piss, call to the wife/kids/girlfriend go back and clean a few rows.

As for a Captain who tells you to clean first and then set up the cockpit/OPS grow some balls and tell him/her that is your job, not cleaning. If he/she gives you grief step up to the plate and get a CP on the phone. Are you so dense that you think a CP would side with a moron like that? C'mon. More than likely this is just flaim bate because any professional would have simply said no.

I can also guarantee you that other carriers have Captains with bigger ego's than ours.

Don't get me wrong Lake I wasnt implying anything about the pilot group that I want to work with.(maybe something was implied out of context that wasnt supposed to be part of my point) I was just poking fun at the few (that have posted here) that think it's such a big "frigging" deal to do a few things outside the job description. I've worked so many crappy jobs even before aviation that I'm not above straightening a few belts or holding open a bag and saying "trick or treat" as the FA's drop newspapers into it. Sometimes it's amazing how well a simple good deed pays off........

I agree, somebody needs to grow a pair...... :-)

Have good afternoon Lake,

Since we are so far off topic on this thread:

Bet you didn't know this...

>> The 3 Goldberg brothers, Norman, Hyman, and Max invented and
>> developed the first automobile air-conditioner.
>>
>> On July 17th, 1946, the temperature in Detroit was 97º.
>>
>> The 3 brothers walked into old man Henry Ford's office and sweet-
>> talked his secretary into telling him that 3 gentlemen were there
>> with the most exciting innovation in the auto industry since the
>> electric starter.
>>
>> Henry was curious and invited them into his office. They refused
>> and instead asked that he come out to the parking lot to their car.
>>
>> They persuaded him to get into the car which was about 130º -
>> turned on the air-conditioner and cooled the car off immediately.
>>
>> The old man got very excited and invited them back to the office,
>> where he offered them 3 million dollars for the patent.
>>
>> The brothers refused saying they would settle for 2 million but
>> they wanted the recognition by having a label "The Goldberg Air-
>> Conditioner" on the dashboard of each car that it was installed in.
>>
>> Now old man Ford was more than just a little bit Anti-Semitic,
>> and there was no way he was going to put the Goldberg's name on 2
>> million Ford cars.
>>
>> They haggled back and forth for about 2 hours and finally agreed
>> on 4 million dollars and that just their first names would be shown.
>>
>> And so, even today, all Ford air-conditioners show on the
>> controls, the names "Norm, Hi, & Max".

My buddy just got the call this afternoon. He interviews on April 13th. He attended the Open House last week in Orlando.

Good Luck to all of you who attended.

Ciao,
GF

Captz and Alice,

If these comments are directed towards my comments, I really can't believe I would get bothered by any of it, but Captz, you are not even here and I could fix that from the Blue side, and Alice, what;s up with you? I never said I would clean to the guy or did so after he commented about it. I gave a very light side to that story, because it is just so bizarre. I could fill in details outside of this website. He and I had a hard time since then and don't address each other in ops. I told him what I thought. I wanted the freakin Latte he promised. I only had time to load the box and do OPS and have a piss, that's it, Balls??? I have ruffled a few Captains with some of the goofy sh!t that goes on here. I'll scream out "Guam 360" the next time I am in ops and we'll talk about balls. I'll point out the goof I flew with, this forum is about the open house, for those that are intersted go, JB is better than any regional out there so get out of those places if you can, it is better.

I staighten the belts and pick crap up when I can, in fact I usually do as I said before.

I don't need crap from a company guy and especially some guy that wants a job here. I know Verna very well.

...and CP, who said anything about a CP, YOU Alice, you said, "contact a CP" then asked "who would so dense to contact a CP?", Duuhh..

I had not made reference to CP or didn't need to then.

I have got to stop falling for this board...and making any comments at all.

Good luck to all that have an interest in this place.

That's why I am leaving ..The above thread is the majority of the Captains at Jetblue. I have been recalled at a real airline where I am treated with respect and not everyone is a crewmember. The Captains here must throw there authority around in the cockpit because it is the only place they have it..Gate Agents rate better here. Good luck to anyone who steps foot on this property and if u weren't hired at the open house you must really have a problem.Everyone I know that attended was offered a job the following day! Does anyone out there know if they will pursue me for not binding my 5 year contract?

At one time, your "real airline" decided they did not need you and furloughed your @ss. Now they need you back and you come-a-running. The first hickup and guess what, we don't need you again, bye bye.

JetBlue is not a perfect company, but it is a great place to work. Although JetBlue was a start up, we made it through the lean years after 9/11 without pay cuts and without furloughs. Good luck at your real airline, but make your decision wisely. JetBlue WILL be a successful airline. JetBlue has the BEST domestic product around. If you worked more than one day at your real airline, how many times did passengers say, "This is the best airline I've ever flown on?"

Just remember that JetBlue is still growing faster than most airlines and movement upward is a sure thing. At NWA, it would take me around 10 years to upgrade to Captain on the DC-9 if I were to go back. Furthermore, there is negative fleet growth as they continue to park planes and retire the DC-9. Only 200-250 retirements/year sustain any movement there. Most legacies face the same timeframe for upgrades.

The grass is not always greener. Take for example SWA pilots who left SWA around 1999-2000 for the "real airlines" for better pay and benefits.

Everyone has tough decisions to make in life. Stick with whatever decision you make and good luck. Worse case, JetBlue goes out of business in 10 years. That could happen to any airline. Even CAL (which has had 2 previous bankruptcies) is only one bankrupcy away from CH7. JetBlue hasn't even had one bankrupcy yet. Best case, JetBlue will have 400+ airplanes in 10 years and we'll be flying international routes out of JFK, BOS, IAD, and SFO. I'm sure marketing is already working on the "400th" tailfin design...

At last a post that is thoughtful and objective! Bravo! not the usual blood bath of negativity. I hope that anyone returning to a Major is treated well and makes the right decision. Alpa should be thankful that B6 was around to offer their cast out members a job during the down turn. There is at least a choice for these guys now as recalls go out. There wasn't much of one in years gone by, now was there?

Wonder if jB will allow any of those guys back when they are furloughed again if the Age 60 rule is changed.

Thoughts?

They would I think but obviously on the bottom. There was talk of allowing guys back that had just retired if the bill had fast tracked, and at their original seniority. There were only I think 3 or so.
