....In addition, management is seeking cuts in hourly rates of pay for the remaining B-717 pilots that range from a 16-year Captain scale of $83.53/hour and top out at a 19-year Captain scale of $86.33/hour, while First Officer scales top out at 8 years paying $37.01/hour.....

If we accept this we deserve the state this industry is in.

The fuel expense DWARFS pilot labor costs. This is a simple example of using the situation to RAPE your employees.

If this is what they want I think we as a group should turn in 396 letters of resignations and tell them to run the airline now!

And then you would see 396 "fellow aviators" willing to take the job because of the QUICK UPGRADE! We are killing ourselves. The skywest contractors are going to make more money then the mainline they feed.

this is a proposal. we need to vote 100% no. we already gave concessions, no more.

signed,
"self interested" furloughed pilot

That blows.

I just checked APC and looked at the posted rates for MidEx and NWA. And Timmy wants to go to THAT!?!?

He's nuts!

Any other info in that letter?

He should waive his pay for at least the next year FIRST since he just took the $10M payoff.

The company is getting in position for a Chapter 11 filing. This proposal will be the one they try to get the bankruptcy judge to cram up your butts if they don't liquidate the company. I feel for you guys; you are right in the middle of a big s$%t sandwich. The airline industry has become a very nasty place.

Looks essentially like cutting the pay rates in half! Incredible.

I'd agree...looks like a set up for TPG to close it down.

I'd agree with Citation...if the pilot group passes that proposal, no sympathy.

But if I recall, shortly after 9/11, didn't the MEC pass a wage-cut without a membership vote? Has the pilot group gotten rid of that loophole?

2/3 of the MEC has their jobs on the line with the 80's being parked. i would imagine none of them wish to cut any rates.

What airline is this talking about? $37 max for f/o? $80's for Capt??? OUCH! You all should walk out.

Good luck!!

Baja.

well since it is about 717 rates you've got a 33% chance on a guess, but we're talking about midwest.

No, they will not do that. There is a CBA in effect and they will furlough in accordance with that CBA, as were the previous 4 furloughs over the past 7 years....

That will result in a significant number of training events, as I suspect quite a few of the furloughs will be off the 717 and the senior 80 folks that stay on property will head to training. Which leads me to believe they will keep enough folks on staff to fly the schedule, cover reserve, and all the training events, and once everyone is up and running on the 717, there will be another furlough.

Ok. It was just the way I read an earlier post. WHat a mess.

Yeah, I know when the press release comes out and says "we're parking the 80's", most uninformed would think all those folks would be laid off...but it's still in order of senority....

Not that the company would not LIKE to furlough out of seniority...

...they'd loose that battle so quick, it's not worth the attorney fees to fight...

If true, that's a slap on the face of all pilots in this industry. Don't take the bait boys. Whatever you give will end up in the hands of the CEO, TPG and NWA. Sounds like they're trying to build golden parachute on your backs. What a disgrace airline mangement has become!

Sadly, if the airline is ready to shut down, it will do so with or without your paycuts. It's just a matter of who is going to keep that money, you or them. Their ruthless nature will not allow them to simply walk away. They have to make sure they clean house before they go. Ethics, and simply being humane are things that are long gone in this industry.

I say if you got to go down, go down swinging. Keep your money. Your family needs it alot more than those cronies. Again, you giving in to paycuts will not make a lick of difference in the outcome. They know it and I hope that you do as well.
