In the aviation world, most pilots over spend and over buy houses. The SWA group is no exception. They are capped out for the most part that is why upgrade is so important. The AAI group will experience the pay bump with more daylight at the end of the month. The ones screaming the loudest are tapped out and need the upgrade to fix mistakes, their own, IMHO. If there is good news for the AAI group in this, all first officers will make equivalent to old AAI captains wage when the SWA CBA takes hold. For the AAI captains, it is like flying X numbers if extra days every month without having to actually fly them.

This isn't a sales job, just a little insight. I am a five year SWA first officer, for me this is just a groaner. I welcome the good news for the AAI guys, but for us middle of the pack first officers we just have to take it with a grain of salt. With no bump and flush, it is what it is. The AAI guys might be pissed that life changed, but again it is what it is. Enjoy deciding what is a good deal or not. For SWA guys this will not match our expectations when we got hired either. But that was lost a long time ago.

That is an excellent insight to what is going on. It's just the way the ball bounces. Life isn't always how we perceive as fair and we certainly know that the airline industry isn't fair. All we can do is make the best of what cards we have been dealt. I look forward to playing my cards the best way I can with my new company. Also looking forward to my Wild Turkey shot with my new brothers and sisters wherever I fall on the list.

redflyer65,

That question just brings this whole discussion right back to its beginnings on Sept 27th.

Let us just hold back and see whatever is presented. You are not going to win any arguments with AAI pilots. Nor are they going to win any with the SWA pilots.

Fair enough. I will read the whole package before deciding on which way to vote. Hoping for good things.

Only on aviation message boards:

Everyone crucifies one pilot group for prioritizing seniority over money
1 thread up, everyone is liking the thought of seniority for sale.

Makes me laugh.

And not a single one of those things will cost you a dime, or affect your quality of life in any way.

boy, oh boy...

I get to keep my captain seat but I am most likely going to have to commute somewhere to use it instead of driving 30 minute to the parking lot. :-(((

I bet you keep your 30 min drive via a fence. I, on the other hand, will have to keep commuting from ATL because the fence will keep me out. Eventually, I hope park my ugly A$$ car in the company parking lot and be done, I hope! ;-)

That sucks, I was hoping to get some new blood in Atlanta, especially some former ASA buds. Instead ATL will be, "The Island of Misfit Toys".

The longer your flying out of MDW the better. Flying with you is about as good as it gets. :)

What is reserve like at SWA? Do they use you every day or do you sit at home ? Can you pick up extra flying over guarantee on your days off?

Jball2,

We can get together and commiserate over beers how bad our life is. :-(

OK that was hard to say with a straight face. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! :))))))))

That seems to be making the rounds pretty quickly. Be interesting to see how accurate it is in the end. I would have preferred cold hard cash instead of stock or options.

Hoping for enough grease to make it work for all of us.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's stock options. It's actual stock that you can sell any time you want. No strike price. In other words, SWA just reimbursed you for the 737 type.

I just threw the options part in there for good measure. The rumor is 1000 shares that have to be held for 24 months. I really didn't pay much for my type, after taking the education deduction from it I was only out about a thousand. It paid off quickly though. Best money ever spent.

if this is true, not bad...I don't think an arbitrator can do better than that. Boy SWA laid it all out there. If Airtran turns this down they are crazy.
I think SWA pilots will approve this, we won't be elated by any means but...from the surface without details it seems fair (I think).

I agree, best money I ever spent. I think that was the motivation behind the stock grant was to put that type argument to rest forever. that's my opinion of course.

I think I would wait for the details before I speculate. That's old Gouge from the deal. The guy who posted that says he was joking. See his post called "the deal"

Here of is:

To all.

I wrote the post that started this thread. It was a hastily prepared attempt to bring a little levity and harmless mental exercise on a day when speculation and rumors were rampant. I thought that would be more obvious than it obviously was. I have no connection to anyone involved in the process and zero idea of the planks of the actual agreement. I apologize forany stress I havecaused to anyone, especially the hardworking negotiators and leadership of all parties involved.

If he is a Fredo, then you must be the loud mouthed, hot headed Sonny. You deferentially aren't a Michael.......

You think too much of me. I'm not even shining their shoes yet brotha-
I appreciate the deference though.
