Hey, I thought I was #50?!?

This just reinforces to me that this list is useful only for relative positioning. No way to tell who is not on this list (or who is even available for a certain class date).

Once training classes start again, then folks can see how far down the list training dates are moving.

Have any guys swimming in the pool been drug tested?? PD told me that is the precursor to the class as the drug test is only good for 30 days...I am still anxiously waiting w/5/21 interview date

3/6 interview with type. Contacted last week for drug test this week. Wasn't available for class until Nov due to Mil commitment.

PD told me they would like a Dec class but not their decision. I also got the "poolie" letter from them this weekend saying no classes planned until early 2008. Hope this helps.

I was drug tested in April before I had the type...I do not think they thought of the slowdown though. I was typed on 8/5 so that is my swimming date

If anyone has the e-mail list from thier interview date try and contact as many of those folks as you can and have them sign up on this list to help us figure it all out.

I look forward to the poolie letter.... anything with the Southwest letter head gets me excited.

When I saw the SWA return address I knew it was too good to be true, but none the less, the wife and I didn't wait to get back to the house to open it up. We didn't even get out of the street. Alas, congrats on still being a poolie.
Anyway, being in the pool is like holding the winning lottery ticket, but you can't cash it yet. Doesn't buy the milk, but you can survive on water.

Well...I got the poolie letter today nice to hear from them but the wait is horrible! It said next years growth is projected at 6% so if that means 6% more pilots that is like 320 pilots not including attrition...so the number of poolies-new hires depends a lot on when the age 65 rule finaly comes down. I hear I am about 200. Does 200 sound right for an August 5th poolie? I am 90 on here.

Island, 6 percent is a misleading management number...unfortunately for both of us, 6 percent is the average going forward and we are only getting 19 net aircraft next year (29 new minus 10 old) which is not 6 percent (more like 3.7 but who's counting). That should equate to 200 or so plus retirements of about 100 for a grand total of 300 new pilots for the year barring any changes. The good news is that we seem to frontload hiring in the first six months of the year so dont let it get you down!

I e-mailed Lindsey yesterday with my new address info. She e-mailed back that I am 5-6 away from a class date with a 6/11 pool date. She said they hope to have a class schedule for 2008 in December.

Hey poolies,

i'm in DAL now in training. everyone is saying we are the last class for this year. so, i wouldn't count on any others, and if they are having one, the word is NOT out now. they also told us they need 45 days from the go order til a class can begin, so do the mental math on that one.

the wait is worth it. i wish you guys would get here soon, so we can all get off reserve.
ps- our class of 20, all got OAK.
