True...I've heard from a few reliable sources that very few will be asked back i.e. 5-10 total....I guess they'll have their reasons.....

ok, no flaming intended, but...

how could a guy be qualified enough to have been a captain at SWA for several years...and now not be qualified to be an F/O?

I have to think guys who are not hired back will try to sue.

If were a betting man...I bet 40 of the 44 get invited back. You probably got a few odd balls, but most probably have a lot of old ties that will out weigh any ill-will directed at them.

With 16 guys already in training and these 40 coming back, that makes 56 total. 5 jets x 11 pilots per = 55 pilots. Looks like after the old fogeys come back, SWA might be done for the year.

Hopefully some of these jokers will cut more domestic capacity and merge. Then SWA might be in a position to open up the tap on new hires.

My guess is that though they may be very well qualified to be a 60+ F/O, they may have other issues.....i.e. internal not-so-good reports, medical issues, background check issues? etc, etc, etc. Who knows?!

Believe it or not, we have some a-holes here too...a lot of great dudes, but a-holes also. The standards for hire have changed some as well...one must have great references and a lot of people to say nice things about you. SWA was not many people's first choice until about sometime in September of 2001 or so...didn't always get the "cream of the crop". You also have to ask yourself what kind of person would want to do this...maybe someone who has alienated everyone else in their life to this point and has no other life outside SWA?

What about a guy no one likes who's a check airman. Sure no one liked the guy because he was part of "the man." But that's my point. He was in with "the man."

The company hires folks, not the pilot's union. So, the company can do whatever they want in reguards to these folks and just blow off every bad internal rec they get. I'm still betting on them hiring the majority.

Congrats to the guys starting tomorrow! number11, I took your name off the list hopefully you are starting tomorrow.

I talked to PD today.

There were between 40-45 retired guys that applied.

They will be interviewed next week.

3 classes planned in April, those retired guys that are hired back will take the first spots in April.

As for the rest of the year; 1 class in August, 1 class in September and 1 in October and then that is it.

Of course this is all subject to change.
