And just a humble tip for those possibly furloughed/out of work from a BK career etc... Just because you have a bazillion 737 hours, SWA doesn't owe you a job. Be humble.

Ah, humbly spoken by someone who probably has never been furloughed or been BK qualified. Was this comment really necessary ??

Thanks for the sage advice.

furloughed twice prior to SWA. I'm telling you seen plenty of guys who where way more qualified on paper not get the job. The person, not the paper.

JumpJetter is exactly right. I am sure he/she did not mean to come across as conceited, however, the fact is the personality is far more important than the quals. They really don't look at your hrs once they have already invited you for the interview. Cheers, Klr

mt2 - if I came across as conceited, apologies. Not my intention. I've just seen guys go to these interviews thinkin' it's in the bag based on their background. My humble advice. Don't do that. That's all I'm sayin'

You don't even have to have a personaility, you just have to be good at faking. Not every pilot at SWA has the best of personalities.

just like not everyone at ual is, in fact, a skygod. ;)

I flew a Frontier Airbus for the last time today, SLC-DEN, and we had a SWA jumpseater. He said 'we're being told 650 newhires this year'. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

He is mistaken. It's almost July, we'd have to hire another 450 just to get to 650. I believe we have only hired about 200 (if that) this year.

I'm curious as to why this was your last flight on a Frontier Airbus?

Because I'm going to be providing you with some seniority padding as of June 25th!

Any words on the July 9th calls? I was projected for the 9th or the 16th. I would like to give 2 weeks notice to have a few days off prior to training....I am excited but with all the news of furloughs lately I will believe I am in class when I look down and the ID shows WN and not CJC on it! so if ou are in class with me and I ask you to pinch me that is why....The moral on the line out here in the Northeast is terrible....mainline guys looking at furlough and commuter guys looking at another few years in their respective seats....The time is right!

I don't think the PD makes calls for class dates more than 2 - 2 1/2 weeks out. Have you called recently to ask where you are at? When I started last year I called one day to see where I was at and they offered me a class date the next day. I would just give the PD a call.
