Alittle off the topic, but I have been trying to find if Southwest has a training pay or is it the first year pay times the guarantee for the month, can anybody shed any light on this

2200 Gross the first two checks then it depends on how much you fly for the third one. It could be about half of that. Hotel rooms are paid for but no perdiem for training.

Every two weeks. Then the third is based on when in the month you finish, 401k , Leather Jacket, Uniforms, IOE ect ect.

I posted that thread over a year ago, but the info is still pretty much correct except for the bases and how long to hold them. OAK will be your ultimate destination out of training with maybe a few going to PHX. Everything else is months away.

What SWA Newhires can expect

Hotel is still the same....Holiday Inn Select. One other change (at least for the 9 April class) is that our new hire party for tomorrow nite (8 Apr) is postponed. We are supposed to get more info on what the new plan is when we show up for day #1.

Nope. I was told to expect an official notification in 1-2 weeks.

Yes, it's quite the privilege to have grown up in Pittsburgh and raised a Steeler fan. A great history of hard-nosed football, 5 rings, never a cheerleader on the field and a Steeler Bar to go to in every city I have ever lived. I think we might be slipping, ......a mascot named Steely McBeam??? Great pornstar name, though.

I have a 6/10 pool date, and I just missed (i think) the 4/23 class. Two more guys with a 6/10 pool date got the call today for the 4/23 class, and PD told me today that they are still waiting to confirm one more person to finalize that class.

For those who didn't know (like me), if two (or more) people have the same pool date, the tie-breaker is date of birth, with the edge going to the older guy.

Anyway...the point of this post is to say that a 6/10 pool date will be at the very top of the list to call for the 5/14 class.

Birthday is one but not the most important tie-breaker. The singlebiggest factor is getting an even spread between mil vs civ and or other backgrounds. They will even call guys from either source and move them up the list if that is what is needed to gain that good spread. Way more than coincidence that every military guy in my class who did not have previous 121 experience was with a civilian guy and thank God for it. I think it is great because as a former mil guy my commuter sim partner was awesome in showing me around 121 ops and the like. I think it works well for those of us that have more of an adjustment in the transition to this type of flying. Cheers, klr

I don't know how much this is true anymore. I was in the Feb class and we had 10 mil and 6 civ. We had 2 sets of sim partners that were both mil with no civilian flying experience at all.
