I didnt say anything stupid about SWA......I said they don't pay enuff for having to get your won type...plus the commuting, schedule, etc.

relax sunshine.....

They pay well enough for me! I think making $100K year 2 and retiring a millionaire sounds pretty good. Not to mention the outstanding corporate culture, bases, job security, yada, yada, yada.

See y'all there.

6000 total, ~2000 Turbine PIC, negative type.

Why is it that there !! are always!! excitable!!!!!! exclamation marks!!!!!! when everyone talks about southwest? holy $hit. Yes, i'd like to work for them, but stop being such whores.

I didn't see the Fed Ex connection until you mentioned it above. I know we stole the LOI and OPC from you guys.

retiring a millionaire is completely dependent on your stock in the 401(k) plan, which is depedent on the stock market.

You could "retire a millionaire" from Starbucks if your stocks performed well, this is not a "Southwest" thing

yes, lots of SWA pilots hired in the mid-80s are 401(k) millionaires, so are Microsoft employees and other companies

don't get too cocky, ala Delta

those who don't learn from history are bound to repeat it

Actually, nobody has to "buy" their type to get hired at SWA. Some people do, I'll admit, but not every pilot has.

Seriously? I am pretty sure that first year FO's make the same as many NetJets Capts.

All 1st year F/Os at SWA make between $62,000 and $229,000? Awesome! We have pay rates all over the board. Without flying extra flying, the average NJA captain is pulling down $120,000 to $140,000 (depending on the schedule they bid) factoring in the OT earned from flying normal tours.

6 weeks vacation? Great!

50% match on 401K? Chingaling.

Cool. Good for you guys!!!

Most junior captain at NJA is AUG 2005 by the way.

Junior cappy at SWA is loosly around Jan of 2000.

That's extra career earnings by my slide rule.

Right now I'm planning on going if I can make my schedule work. Stats are almost 1800 Turbine PIC (not increasing), 737 type, and one unsuccessful interview in 2001.

Same stats here, but PIC is growing and I'm Check Airman. Just interveiwed in April, but I'm going

I'll be there with bells on. Any additional experience I can get of the SWA culture is a benifit to me in an interview. 5400 TTL, 2000PICt, no type.

I'll be there on Saturday! No type, 1600 TPIC. Staying at the Marriott Residence Inn....anybody else there?

A couple questions: 1. Does having time in 737NG along with the type carry more weight than just a 737 Type? 2. Will they hold it against someone who doesn't attend this weekend (military drill weekend)?

I don't think the NG will have anything to do with it. Once you're called into interview...all that "flying stuff" has been looked at...now it's up to how well you do in the interview.

I'll be there...

5800 total
3800 PIC turbine...all in the ATR 72
737 typed Jan 06
Interviewed in Feb 06...got the letter in March :(
Will be typed in the RJ 200 on Monday the 12th :)

Looken foward to some ice-cream.

See you guys there.

now there is an idea. The nuts in the big D might just like that.( Kidding I think) Either way good luck :)

A 737 type is all that is required. NG time is just a differences training course. SWA even though they operate the 737-700, doesn't have the typical Boeing glass set-up that all other carriers use. Their glass simulates the round dials as used in the 737-300 and 500, for commonality. Although its nice to have flown the NG, I don't think to SWA it really matters. It seems they just want a fit for their way of doing business and crew compatability.

Anybody know if Chase and SWA/FO are going to be in charge of the Castle Bounce???

I was the person handing out the wild turkey shots..

Ok...guess I'll be the nerd that starts telling about the Open House.

1. Yep, they are hiring...a lot, and will hire a lot over the next few years.

2. They want you to be honest and list all arrest, convictions, and prison sentences, even if it doesn't show up on your FBI check.

3. They do interview without a type, but if you don't have a type and get a call, consider yourself lucky.

4. Only count PIC time that you signed for the airplane, contrary to my understanding of what the website states.

5. Rebekah looks for pilots on Sunday nights when she gets bored...
