don't be so harsh!

Bill Nelson said:
I was enlisted, got a degree, went to OCS, and progressed. So do lots of people. The rest try and grow their mustaches out past their lips and try to justify it because they "have a lot going on in their lives."

Excuses are for losers. Get you degree and don't question my ability to lead. I am very sympethetic until you start whinning about your tough luck.

There is no excuse for ambition. Period.
Bill,
I think you need to take a look at how you are coming across! You sound like some immature punk-know-it-all. Certainly not like an officer in the United States military. I can tell you that to be successful in this career you must be able to get along with others. So give the guy a break! So he's short of a degree by a few classes. Did he say he wasn't going to finish? Maybe the original thread was to see if his ideas of mass mailing resumes was premature! And last time I checked you don't need a degree to be a fine pilot.

Tough customer? Not sure what that means. As far as the degree goes, sure, having a degree makes one more competitive for most things in life. I made an comment in an earlier post that I casually observed on www.aviationinterviews.com that several people hired at Southwest did not have degrees. Bill Nelson has been looking for an argument all week and decided I would be the target. He disagrees (which he has the right to) that the website clearly states that several people have been hired without a degree. OK, so I let him believe what he wanted and bowed out of the discussion. For some creepy reason, though, he started to stalk my presence on the board...

"Ole English!,

What, did the facts stump you? You have been here off and on all day. No reply?"

So, I gave him the information he clearly was in denial over.

This has nothing to do with the degree discussion. This (like most threads on this website, it seems) just got hijacked by a guy with a chip on his shoulder. Unfortunately I tried to have a discussion with this guy, and he was just too angry to do it.

Bill,

It is a complete waste of time arguing with her, do something constructive with your time.. She was called out last week on her comments about people that had 1500 hours total time and hired as a captain flying a CJ part 135 single pilot. Do a board search, was quite comical in more ways than one to say the least. She will only see what she wants to see, right or wrong it doesn't matter in her eyes... I wouldn't waste the time if I were you...

I agree..it is a complete waste of time to argue with anyone on this board. That is not the function of this board. In my eye, its purpose to share information with others for the purpose of helping with their careers, flight training and enjoyment, and hopefully to learn something in exchange. It is very disheartening to come to this board and share my actual life experiences and have people argue with me that those things just couldn't have happened. We have all had our individual, unique experiences that we should be open-minded enough to accept, and learn from. I know I learn alot from reading posts here, but these days it seems there is more flame-bait and argument-for the-sake-of-argument going on. Is this really where all of us want this board to go? It seems some would rather argue than try to get along with others. I know I've been guilty of getting pulled into an argument with others, but, 350, come on, you are really holding a grudge here about a discussion we had, what, a week ago? Can't we disagree and still be civil to each other? And, Bill Nelson, calling me a jackass wasn't very nice, either. Let's disagree in a professional manner, folks. Life's too short to get all worked up over stuff like this. I apologize now for any unprofessionalism I contributed to this thread.

What a bunch of whining babies! Unbelievable! Can't we all just get along?

For real...

For real,

Bill, I'd love to know who you really are. I am glad you didn't insinuate that I'm married to Falconjet.
