Delta Air Lines Inc. and its partners will cut trans-Atlantic flights between 7 percent and 9 percent due to soaring fuel costs and changing demand.

Hey Schoolboy Lee, clean up your own mess, then worry about Volaris. They will be done shortly. RJ’s and cuts in international traffic. Maybe OYS can move in with you when he is furloughed. Oh what fun you two will have!!

This is all good, but for the time being, lip service. When is it going to happen? CAK-MKE scheduled to go to 3 flights a day later this month (23rd I think) and there is no date set when Skywest will be gone according to the Plain Dealer (FWIW). Will it be gone by the end of the year like DFW service or sooner?

Really General?

Delta codeshares with 12 other airlines, and outsources domestic flying with over 800 regional jets. Do you really think you have the credibility to throw that stone?

Codesharing with Volaris on less than 2% of our ASM (MAX) is nothing compared to what Delta has done. Plus ZERO RJ's, and ZERO long range international codeshare. When we go long range, it will be with our pilots.

RF

You can't claim to be perfect when you still have the deal with Volaris. Maybe that is what GL means.

OYS

Lear you are a wise man but I disagree with you on one point. The problem isn't the RJs. The problem is the continued outsourcing. I don't care if we fly 152s into Brownfield, TX (KBFE) as long as they are flown by our pilots under our contract. Its the outsourcing to the lowest bidder that has lowered the bar for everyone.

Luv,
Ghetto

And how much would you pay to buy that job?

streakerrrrrrr quoting himself!!!

HAHHAHA WHAT? AHAHAHAHHAHA What? It would be funny, if it were actually funny. And, I don't need to be anyone else, I am going for 20K posts by the end of the year, thanks.

Seriously though, get that arbitration done for your SLI, it really is a fair way to handle it. I know you can't wait.

You got it, we are a Global Airline, and there are Global partnerships, just like your little deal with Volaris. We are NOT allowed to fly intra China, or Intra Australia, but we have partners that do it, and then feed our planes flying back to the USA. If you don't have the rights to fly within a seperate country, you need to rely on partnerships to gain access to those cities you cannot serve. It's just that basic. Virgin Blue (now Virgin Australia) will feed our 777 that goes nonstop to LAX from SYD. China Southern Airlines flies from all over China to Guangzhou, and then their 777 to LAX, and then we take passengers onward throughout the US. The Joint Venture to Europe with AF, KLM, and Alitalia does the same, but shares profits, and also coordinates schedules. Any cut backs (like announced today for the Fall) has to be done by each member, not just one. That helps with profits. When you can't fly WITHIN another country, it is good to be friends with someone so they can bring their own passengers to a collection point, and then we fly them to the US. I can't explain it any easier for you.

And, today you still have RJs. Maybe not soon with the SkyWest deal ending, but today you do. Not zero, some. I love how you say zero "long range" codeshares. But ONE SHORT RANGE codeshare........funny. But WHEN YOU GO LONG RANGE (and every other LCC in Europe does the same to bat you back to the USA), it will be with YOUR PILOTS. (mainly Airtran pilots who can understand how to do it). I can't wait to see that. Maybe you can then rename your airline People's Express.

And DL doesn't have 800 RJs flying for it right now. Comair will be down to 44 planes soon, Expressjet doesn't fly for DL anymore, Freedom Air (MESA) doesn't, and ASA moved a bunch from DL to United. SWA used to have 727s, but I don't bring that up to you everytime you want to argue. Get the correct number and then use it, but 800 is high.

Again, this is a NORMAL cut for after Labor Day. Also, this fits in perfectly for the 744s to get new mods for lie flat seats. The company President today said most of the planes that will be temporarily parked would have 4 engines, and they are in need of those mods, for IFE too.

RJs are leaving the fleet. Most of the 140 planes that will be parked over the next 2 years are RJs and props. Some DC9s are included, but MD90s will be coming to replace them at greater numbers.

And this decision to cut back was probably made a couple weeks ago, when oil was $20 more per barrel. It's down again today to below $100 a barrel. But, the fare hikes for $116 a barrel are still in there.

Your code share record is NOT perfect. Volaris is still out there, and you still have RJs flying for Airtran right now. That means quit thinking you are perfect, cause YOU AIN'T.

And OYS will be fine. No talks of furloughs, and Delta didn't furlough during the recession of 08 because of the expensive flow down to Compass. With retirements coming (something you won't have, especially after gaining the young Airtran pilots), it shouldn't be a problem at all. You know that!

General's a bit aggro with this one eh?
So there's only one way to meet aggression-
Shut the ******************** up Gen- you guys have gotten rid of 50's only bc they are expensive and accomplished what they were designed to accomplish: gut your contract and divide pilots against themselves on different lists. Besides- how many seats are still outsourced? Getting rid of 5 50's and replacing them with 3 90-seaters retro'd to 76 seats w/ 1st class isn't a gain.

Again- I'll ask you since you're so informed: why did DALPA allow 90-swatted in 2006. You were out of BK. So that's no excuse. And to those of us on the outside that crossed a line. No way DALPA shouldn't be flying those dc9 replacements-
How do you get to the point where you criticize swa on codeshare and not that?
Sorry dude, but you're full of sh/t and GK just proved you have no clue what you're talking about. But please. Keep betting against us. The 787's are coming...

Wave:
It's ok, you don't have to be hatin! I understand the jealousy. Couldn't get hired by a legacy, so you chose to buy your job. I know, I know when you can't get hired through the interview process, paying for your job is the second best way.
Don't be angry you're only going to fly a 737 for the rest of your career, It's only as bad as the upcoming SLI which you guys are going to get hammered on.
