Um...no...350 next year is a high estimate IMHO...SWA is not doing so hot right now. Newhires should plan on 10+ years as a FO

SWA had close to record 3rd Quarter profits this go around.

Yeah, things are not going well.

I haven't seen a definitive number anywhere for hiring in 2008. Just curious where the 350 came from. I haven't heard any thing which leads me to believe they know how many they need to hire for 2008. Alot of variables with slowed growth and age 60.

They are hiring 450-500 for 2008, not 350.

This is probably a pretty good guess, IMHO.

The current seniority list has approximately 5600 pilots. Assume 6% growth and Age 60 is dead until the election:

5600 x 0.06 = 336, plus the ~150 scheduled retirements between today and 12/31/08.

This equals ~486 new hires.

Not 10 years, yet...there Bro. We are "kick'in tail"

OK, good luck with seniority and paying the cable bill based on that.

Well he has a current job so I'm sure his cable is safe for a bit longer...

I guess if you happen to know more than the people department and are saying they are lying to him then please pass along any more information you may have so I can pass it along as well.
