Not everyone "chooses" to commute. Sometimes life events force pilots to either commute or give up their job. Which would you choose?

You are right and I have commuted off line for over a decade. Trust me, I have yet to get any sympathy from any gate agent. I am always the last one on if there is a seat available and I have been left behind on more than one occasion. Not getting on is a fact of life; get use to it.
 
Get a life, if you choose to commute, that is your choice. No one makes you commute, if you are so concerned about getting home, then drive to work.

You missed the point. With regards to what 328 Dude was actually talking about, your generic argument does not apply. The training observation rides can be done on any flights at any time. It would be courteous to NOT do these rides on flights that are both full AND heavily commuted, like DAL-HOU-DAL on a friday at 17:30, when a nice Midland turn on a Saturday will do. The Dude is right.
 
Commuting made me bitter too. Just remember what got you hired, the golden rule. You should'nt have to be told not to bump a worker for your observation flights, you only have 5 weeks to get them done.

Non-reving in DAL is much harder now with Wright gone...especially to MAF, LBB, ABQ etc. since they are selling seats to passengers who are connecting to elswhere. I have flown into out of MAF for the last four weeks in a row and it is mostly full now. I would actually recommend observing a HOU flight for a newhire since they have over 40 flights a day on the DAL-HOU run. There are tons more options with that than a full MAF or AMA.

Skywaitress, you're a flippin A-HOLE. Thats why you get left behind. Seriously though, you SUCK. It's people with attitudes like yours that bring this industry down. You're an idiot.
 
I'd like to bring this thread back to its original purpose....April SWA training classes.

I've heard some people mention they are signed up for the 4 Apr class. Anyone been officially signed up for the 18th or 25th classes?

I was told to expect 18 Apr, but nothing official yet.
