Much to my surprise which quickly turned to joy, Lindsey called me this morning to see if I was available for the 7 April class that had just been confirmed. I of course responded in the affirmative.

Due to some username/password issues, my name on the poolie list is "G-Man" (#13), but now I go by "Cheesehead" on the message board. Just wanted to clear up any confusion. I also know that "Badger 135" (#12) was also called by Lindsey this morning.

got the call too......time for the ole whiz quiz.

Dreams do come true.......

cheers

emancipation proclamation!!!!

Boys and girls, kids of all ages!!!

After 17 months of intense studying LL has decided I am probably ready for the whiz quiz! Hope I pass ;)

I was reading the other call outs and starting to freak - don't know why the phone wasn't ringing (oh yeah I am not at home) I better call LL - I did, left the message and just now got called back. I am so happy I can't even think of a joke and I think I'll cry - I guess that is what the towel is really for.

Good luck poolies - I'll send a trip report.

For Auir (#10)

I too, had a call today, but unfortunately LL informed me that there was a problem with a new rule by the D of J. I am a Brit (green card holder), and the Dept of (In) Justice has issued a new rule (as of 17th March) that foreigners who are not current in a jet >12,000lbs need a full 45 day background check. And since I am not current, I will not be able to go to class because my clearance won't go through in time, and even once they instigate the check, it is only valid for 30 days, and then they have to run it again if I am not in class by then.
Ironically, I was cleared to start in the last class using the old background check, but no one dropped out (until after class started).
I am not giving up after moving my family across the Atlantic, buying the 737 type and then hanging on for 18 months, just to be treated as though I am a threat by the Dof J.
LL was great, and told me they will do all they can to get me to class, but at the end of the day, I am now an admin burden.
I have another 18 months until I am eligible for citizenship.
Anybody know a good aviation lawyer?
Anybody got any ideas?:(

Why do you not get current again on the 737? Go through a recurrent training program with a training center? It may cost you a couple of bucks....

Congrats to all those in the April 7 class!! Sorry my class (Feb 17) won't be in DAL to welcome you properly. I know everybody is running the gambit of emotions right now and soon will have a million questions about what to expect (I did anway). Feel free to send me a PM and I will be happy to share my limited knowledge with you. Congrats again and good luck!!

Send Pegasus to Southwest

Peg,

If getting current will get you to class I propose this:

Collectively, we "Lurkers" and "Poolies" can start another little pool just for Pegasus. We can call it "Send Pegasus to Southwest"

We could even ask Lindsey & gang to accept the donations, then have LL give the donations to you to help defer the cost of the recurrency.

Heck, maybe SWA will even allow you to get recurrent in their sims, and allow the donations to pay for the sim time.

If SWA can't rent the sim, I'll bet Mark Sterns at Higher Power Aviation can make something happen.

You deserve to be at SWA as much as anybody IMHO.

What do the rest of ya'll think?

Peg, tell us how we can help and we will.

I spoke with LL again tonight and (God Bless her) she is trying to make it happen for me. She has the legal dept and 2 CPs looking into the Dof J ruling. I think it may not comply with the equal opportunities laws (although I do understand that security matters are of the highest importance).
Anyway, the upshot is, that they will press ahead with the clearance check, and hope that it goes through before April 7th. Additionally, I am inquiring about the recurrency training and will do whatever it takes to reach to be considered current. I WILL NOT GIVE UP! At the end of the day, maybe if I miss this class, someone more needing of a job will get the call instead.
Bit of a depressing night tonight; wife and I were both feeling pretty low, but, it could be worse. We have our family, our health, and God willing, I'll make it to Dallas. (Might write to Colleen as well) :)

Pegasus,

That's awesome news. You're almost there. Please let us know when you get the CP's call.

Peg,

I am with Yahtz...anything we can do to help...say the word. I'll turn the rubiks cube a few times and see if i can think of something...

Chase..MLWINGBORN, Tred any ideas?

Congrats

Congratulations to all poolies for their class date. It's good to hear things are moving along. Pegasus...I'm truly saddened by this latest news. You deserve to be in this class. Doesn't seem fair since we must have a ten-year background check under PRIA, anyway. Can Herb K. help? Yes, I mean THE Herb K.! Just a thought.

Congrats guys!

Pegasus, hope you make it man, feel for ya!

Welcome

Finished training tonight!

Welcome to all you new new-hires. I checked on to make sure the rumor was out. The company is superb and training is top-notch. Welcome.

Pegasus, keep us informed, and please let us know if we can help in any way.

We go through this crap all of the time, I will speak with our people over here to see if there are any loop holes, I thought the DOJ ruling was that you had to be qualified in an aircraft weighing 12,500 pounds or more, my brain is
a little foggy if you need to be current or not.... I will let you know what I find out....

As far as donations, will you guys accept money from a crew scheduler, I hope my money is good enough>!>!
HA!!!!!!

Nightmares....

Just when you think you have FINALLY gotten there..... jeeze Peg - I can't think of anything other than heartfelt condolences....

I have to agree with the above posts - IF you did your type w/ HPA in DAL, I am sure that Mark & Joe would certainly be willing to do as much as they can to help you out.... you probably would'nt even have to beat them either!!:D

Perhaps call your 737 school and explain the issue..... or call FLight Safety Boeing @ DFW - see what they would charge you for 3 takeoffs/landings + an instrument check - I think this would make youe "legally" current???????

If donations are in order, I'll be happy to be the collection point of contact, at least I won't be producing a product this time!!!;)

Good luck my friend - our hearts & thoughts are with you and your family - see you in DAL buddy!

PS - CongRATS to the recently drying pool rats - thanks for amkeing room at the TOP of the list for your fellow waterlogged friends!!!! Tred

Peg, I'd be honored to be junior to you any day of the week.
Count us in to help any way we can.

Donation$ for Pegasus...

Pegasus,

B747Dogg and I are going to discuss this issue with our class tomorrow (Feb 17th class). We are going to propose chipping in some funds for getting you "current and qualified" in a B-737 at HPA or whatever it takes. Let us know what we can do to help you out.

Hoping for a winning roll... let's get Pegasus into class!!
