28 Feb?

I am still awaiting mine as it was sent to my parents at my "Permanent Address", but I thought when my dad read the letter with it it gave a date as return by such and such.....so I think you're probably right, this is a way to weed out the serious from the not so serious or already employed elsewhere folks.

Also I agree that there seems to be no pattern as to who got them. It seems they sent them to the permanent address not the current address, so check that end of it. Seems to be a smattering of those with and without type ratings.
Regards,

Thanks for the info!

I'll give them a couple more days, then I'll call em...

No Type

Spoke to a buddy yesterday - he does not have a type and he got the update letter. He applied in Aug 2001.

Been on the road for the last 10 days. Got home to a smiling SWA envelope. It has an update letter in it. I am NOT typed. I handcarried my App to the Air Inc job fair in VA in Nov 2001. Hope this info helps. Maybe at thwe bottom of the pile, but at least I'm in it!

be careful..

you guys may not pass the final wiz test from the sound of things....:D

Tred - (clean & not seeing talking/singing frogs)

Significance of 28 February

Chaz: I think the 28 Feb date for two reasons:

1. It is on a Friday.

2. It is the last day of the month.

Therefore, IMHO, it makes an "easy" cut-off. Not in our hands by 28 Feb, a Friday, the last day of the month, then it goes into the circular file.

I need a life -- at least I am not seeing dancing frogs!!

And mine did find it's way to my PERMANENT address.

Michigan J. Frog

That's the dancing Frog's name....the one from the cartoon. I have no idea why I know that, speaking of needing to get a life.
;)
Cheers!

Easier Job?

Been up at Flight Safety for the last few days recurrent so it was just sitting there smiling at me when I got home.

As to the ease of my job, Not really, Flying Part 91 for a Corp. Long days and longer nights. Thought I was totaly sunk with no type (and I still may be at the back of the line who knows). Just was a nice present to come home to.

Thick headed

No worries, Hope to get to see you in Dallas some day.

Michigan J. Frog

All seriousness aside... when you think back on all-time best cartoons ever made, doesn't that cartoon stand out as one of THE best? I still chuckle to myself when I think of that poor slob standing in front of the talent agent trying to explain how this frog sings and dances. The talent agent looks into the "camera" with that, "This guy is coo coo!" look. Eventually the frog ruins the poor s.o.b. :D Such creative writing and ideas from WB folks back then. I watch some of the stuff my son enjoys nowdays and I just shake my head in disbelief. Hmmmm.

Sorry for turning this into a cartoon thread. Better get back to interview discussion... oh, wait, that's right... not much interviewing going on these days.

Well I'll tell ya what, RB, I've always wanted to do more at SWA than just fly the line. Like maybe if I ever get outta the pool, and ten years later, I'll do interviews in DAL. Then I'll be sure to ask all those wannabees just EXACTLY what was the name of that frog? Then, the ones like HPaul who don't have a life will answer and I'll know it's really time for them to come to DAL as well...:)
Before you know it, we'll be on "Will Fly for Food" - frog legs, perhaps.

cartoons

My favorite (the frog is good) is the Barber of Seville with Bugs and Elmer. Leave it to Looney Toons to teach us all about classical music.

It used to drive my wife batty that I would hear a classical piece and go "Oh, that's when Bugs is massaging Elmer's scalp with his ears, etc.....".

Slug

I've been in Del Rio too long

Kill the

wabbit, Kill the WAbitt, KIILLL THE WAAAABIT!!!:D

Jeeze - if we don't get to class soon we are just going to loose it BIG time!?!?!?;)

"Hello my honey, hello my baby, hello my ragtime gal!"

I'm still partial to the Martian. "Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom."

Sorry, I (and many of us) digress from the forum topic. My brain is fried from too many trips through the landing pattern with students in S. Texas. Yet, I'm very happy to be employed now!

Coyote and Roadrunner

Did yall forget about the coyote and roadrunner? That's still my favorite. I'm a coyote man myself. I'd love to get a hold of an Acme catalog. You got to wonder what else is in there. :D
