Quick question. Was he on board the plane? If not, is it a crime for a crew member to show up intoxicated at the airport?
Showing up drunk for a flight is always a bad deal, but nobody knows the circumstances involved. It's amazing to see pilots bashing each other and acting like a bunch of school girls. Is everyone looking for a upgrade from first officer?
Yes. Showing up at the airport after an overnight with fellow crewmembers, in the absence of reporting yourself unavailable to crew scheduling, is considered intention to operate. There is no way to escape the wrath that will follow. The company, the public, law enforcement, and many others will not have any sympathy. The only protection from such unpleasant outcomes is to show up without any alcohol in your blood. Therefore, without exception and without excuse, never show up as a crewmember or jumpseater with any alcohol in your blood. You can metabolize one drink an hour. Give yourself wide margin. If you can't do this, then you may need assistance with alcohol dependence. Get private help. Do not go through your company. Stop drinking so much, you dodo bird.Quick question. I hear ya. There is always a chance in the American Judicial Sytem. This one is a tough sell though.I thought so. I was wondering if he lawyers up and the lawyer can claim he wasn't going to fly, but he was going to call out sick at the airport....etc, etc.
well IBT 357 has a great HIMS program,,,,,,,,,wait you guys DONT have a HIMS program do you? in case you dont know, you DONT, YEA IBT, ONE LIST, ONE VOICE, ONE CONTRACT, not that it would help now, but it might have helped before he dove off the deep end. Do you know who has stepped up and helped rep/chq/whoever pilots in the past with this issue? FAPA not IBT. Call Doug Turner maybe he can help.

The pilot made a choice that changed his life. Big difference. He had my complete support right up 'till the moment that he got on the van instead of picking up the phone and asking for help.Yep. Snitch..
I was really just commenting on the irony of the situation had the guy tipped the van driver minutes before said van driver made the phone call to ruin his life.. That's all.. D-bag
I had the opportunity to speak to a hotel staff and a pilot who works for the same company. It is not a great story and it is upsetting that multiple incidents have occurred within the same company in the last 12 months.
Not ironic in the least. The van driver made a call that potentially saved lives. At the very least his call kept the other pilot from being placed in a tough spot. Please stop being an idiot--the van driver's phone call didn't ruin this pilot's life. THE PILOT RUINED HIS OWN LIFE. The fact that you are incapable of making that distinction makes me question whether you should be in the cockpit at all. What is it with this generation of kids that cannot take responsibility for their actions? Geesh!
What are you basing the assumption that he didn't confront him on?Bull. The van driver is a prick. He could have confronted the pilot in the van. If he would have let the pilot know he was calling the police, I'm sure the pilot would have gone back to the hotel with the van driver. The van driver is a rat, plain and simple. It's still the pilot's fault also, but the van driver is a scumbag.
It's like raaaaaain... on your wedding day..The irony is still there.. d-bag

According to another forum, an XJT crew was on the van to the hotel with the Cha crew the night before. The XJT crew say that both Cha guys were being rude to the van driver, in part because he made them wait for the XJT crew. So if the morning escapades involve the same crew and same van driver (big assumption), my guess is that there was no tipping... unless you count the van driver tipping off the airport police.

Dang I wonder what hotel they stay at, I am at the Double Tree in OMA right now.
Once again Amazing!!! So your a rat because you caught the guy raping your wife? I should feel bad for the guy that raped your wife because he got caught. Are you saying had he be given the chance to stop the rape half way into the act it's ok?
You sir have the opinion of what is making this country crap. You won't stand up for what's right, instead look for some loophole to have your cake and eat it to.
