My upbringing taught me it to be rude to say or ask what one earns.

I'm I the only one who finds this thread classless?

I averaged 16-17 days off a month. The first 9 months were at 3rd year pay and the last 3 months at 4th year pay. Per diem is included within my figure.

Factor in 2 weeks vacation & four - 3 day trips dropped for illness (sick pay). Lots of my trips had overnights where I live, which worked out well too.

NUMBER OF DAYS WORKED

January - 12 days
February - 15 (29 day month)
March - 13
April - 14
May - 13
June - 14
July - 11
August - 16
September - 10
October - 14
November - 14
December - 12

158 days worked. 207 days off. Key word - Trip Density

$116,350 / Part 91 international operator / M-Friday 80% of time / 401k style plan with 5% employer matching / take home car with employer provided gas/ 450 hrs (approx) in 2004 / retiring at age 50 with pension and medical at which point I will play golf and go fishing alot / if our pilots dont like the WX or feel tired we just flat out cancel the trip, period, end of story /never will fly 777's to Rome but thats ok / no I aint going to the airlines but thanks for asking

:)

I have to agree with Hobiehawker. What is the point of comparing W-2s? Who cares. Plus it is totally classless.

this thread is like look at my d1ck, its bigger than yours

AArogonce (uh, scratch that, maybe its look at me, I LUV myself) starting to seep into the message board these days

if the shoe fits wear it: don't get too cocky boys, that big bad schoolyard bully might be on top today but tomorrow he could be in for an azz kickin from the next bad azz who will rule the playground.

be advised

Now we've walmarted this message board!

And these are the guys that talk about how low-rent the average SouthWest Passenger is. Why don't we all sign up to guest on Jerry Springer and talk about how much we're willing to pay each other's wives for sex?

If you want to get paid like a professional, then lets act like professionals. There is a difference between providing information of potential income at certain carriers in certain years and bragging about one's specific financial coup.

Airline pay is unique in that everyone at an airline is paid from the same pay table and the pay tables are public information. It's not like your pay is a confidential negotiation between your supervisor and you.

It's not confidential information as it would be in many other industries. All of the pay rates are published for all to see so what's the point in hiding what that translates to on a W2?

For people out looking for a new flying job, this info puts things into perspective with regards to what life is like at the other airlines financially. I think it is interesting to see all the different numbers.

Some people lack things in their life, thus find it self enhancing to prove that they make a lot of money! Personally I find this thread is an embarressment! What you earn is between you (your family) and Uncle Sam!

i kind of agree, but not being in the industry yet, i'm really curious what real people are making, as opposed to just seeing what a 15 year F/O on a widebody makes at XYZ airline from airlinepilotpay.com. this thread adds a sense of realism.

some of these pilots, if being truthful, are making a lot of money, to my surprise. i am hoping to become an airline pilot, but i would not do it for the pay -- it's just a nice perk :)

Can't we figure that out for ourselves?

SWA 3rd year FO:

90 bucks a trip X 95 trips a month X 12 months = 102,600 + 5,000 per diem = 107,600.

Real tuff.

This is embarrassing as a professional.

Just wait till you start doing this job, you'll wish you could figure out where all the freaking perks went to.

Then why are you still reading (and posting on) this thread?

$102,000.00 Brown/4th year fo/no extra flying.

Enough to qualify for foodstamps and live in a cardboard box under a freeway overpass/2nd yr DorkJet FO/no open time available...

These numbers don't mean much unless you include how many hours you worked, how many days off, and what kind of retirement plan you have.
