CJS. What makes you so qualified and experienced to assume that if someone chooses aviation as a life long career that they'll regret it in the long run? My diagnosis and treatment for you:

I will give you a great example. I am a corporate pilot. The corp I fly for has a C-550B, B-58, and a C-172. We just sold our turbo charged C-T206H. As I was flying the same individuals on a routine basis to our plants and distribution centers some of them began to ask if I would teach them how to fly. I agreed and they took lessons on our trips. As they progressed they began taking lessons on the weekends. The CEO of our company approved them to be placed on the insurance and they were allowed to train and solo in the company’s C172. Paying only for fuel! One progressed and is now flying SIC in the Bravo as well as PIC on the 172, 206. The other is studying for his IR written. Although I have not yet taught him how to fly an approach formally he has approximately 25 hours of actual IFR. I mean actual IFR none of this I saw a cloud add .1 to the total. 1/2 of his 110 hrs is in the turbo charged 206. ¾ of his experience is x-country. He has a few hours in the Baron and handles the planes wonderfully in or out of IMC. He as been PIC to many trips into and out of class B airports. We have flown through thunderstorms, icing, snow storms, and what ever else. I would say both of them have what you call lots of real world experience. So there you go two fine examples. Out of pocket expenses for them probably 2,000 by the time they are at commercial muti and single level. The Baron loves fuel!

P.S. You obviously have no idea what it costs to operate aircraft if you think flight schools are getting rich.

Would you mind explaining how the hell someone is going to have a lot of real world IFR/multi/turbine experience at 500 TT without having to pay for it?
Maybe their dad has a King Air or something?!
What's the point? Am I supposed to become a plant and distribution specialist so that I can fly a Baron with you?

I can agree with everything you said...except the type of place that would hire a 500TT pilot.

I work at a place that does hire that low. Although it is not perfect...like any company is. It is a great place to cut your teeth doing 135 cargo in a large turboprop. Your going to learn a great deal and you are more than a gear puller that isn't allowed to fly.

This is all a big fat lie!!!! DCA and other academy's offer a great opprotunity to get your rating fast and get to the jet even faster. I have become a believer in these academies and the cost they charge. I have written the FAA and requested all my ratings from pvt to mei be revoked so I can start at DCA immediately. I will get all my ratings in a great new airplane and will be the envy of you all. You are just jealous you did not go to DCA, I was fooling myself thinking my experiences would equal a DCA student. I think the FAA should issue two kinds of certs. One from EVERY OTHER crappy school and then DCA's. DCA certs should read "awsome pilot who is ready to fly a jet" on my PVT!!! Cause that is what I am, ready to fly that jet. I wonder if they would charge me more if I took all my check rides in the jet? Hell I would pay it!!!! My dad said He would pay for it if it meant I could get that first job quicker, but he said I would have to down grade from my Porsche to a BMW but It is so worth it to get that jet time.

I think its okay to go to DCA because they are owned by Delta Airlines. Delta supports its pilots and provides excellent retirement and pay. I know that DCA uses all the money I will pay in fees to better the industry and the quality of life of all pilots everywhere.

You guys are just jealous that I am going to a great academy and I will get hired in a jet with 250 hours total time!!!! :rolleyes:
