Is GIA still Hiring street captains. I heard that they weren't. If they are does anyone have a copy of their contract?? Typical trips?

Would he have been a worthless tool-bag anyway, "street captain" or not?

It's not the "street captain" part, that made him that way... I was one at the time.

It's the part about his only experience prior to the left seat of a DHC8 was flying freight in a baron in Florida.

It's the complete lack of turbine experience, crew experience, humility, judgment, how he wormed his way through training, how he treated his more experienced FO, and how he flew, that made him a worthless tool-bag.

That's what I thought, thus the question.
I'm not sure I agree with all the derision toward these so-called "street" captains. If a pilot came into a company and actually took someone's job it might be different, but in the case of companies that are hiring captains because they cant upgrade the 450 hour FOs then so what?

You know how it goes. Pilots gotta bit** about something.

Yea I wouldn't come to MESA to be a street captain. Cuz they would send you to IAD. And the most vicious a$$ whoppings the company hands down are in IAD.

I wouldnt come to mesa at all!!!

Pinnacle is advertizing on 350 for street Capts', so is Kalitta Charters

Pinnacle is offering "quick upgrade" to anyone over 3000 hours. I looked into that debacle recently and ran the other way. Not only is Pinnacle one of the worst regionals to work for, they sidestep proper payment by training you as an FO with awful first year FO pay until you finish IOE around 8 months later. They should be hiring you as a proper street CA first and paying accordingly from the start.

But as you can tell from a company who has blatantly defied court orders and dragged its feet on contract negotiations for better than 3 years, it's not a good move.

PSA upgrades at ATP mins. We will probably be hiring street CA or doing immediate upgrades by summer.
I wouldnt go that far..... Things are all places that go good and fast will slow down. If you think upgrades will go less then a year you are crazy. There is no movement at the majors and the fact of the matter is things are going to slow down. With posted on many threads already new hire classes have been postponed and delayed, hiring isnt happening etc...... To tell someone to go for a street captain job is crazy in the 1st place..... They might want to learn a little about the plane they are flying before trying to be the CA of it!

Question: Do the FO's that were hired prior to a street captain move past that Capt. in seniority when they upgrade? Thanks.

Seniority never changes. That FO is senior to the Street Captain, always. A street captain is hired into the company as a junior "newbie", just like whatever FO's are hired the same day, they just happen to qualify for Captain.

The seniority list is one big mix of CA's and FO's. The CA's aren't necessarily all at the top. Being a CA doesn't make someone senior. Only Date of Hire can give someone seniority.
