Yea I wouldn't come to MESA to be a street captain. Cuz they would send you to IAD. And the most vicious a$$ whoppings the company hands down are in IAD.

I wouldnt come to mesa at all!!!

Pinnacle is advertizing on 350 for street Capts', so is Kalitta Charters

Pinnacle is offering "quick upgrade" to anyone over 3000 hours. I looked into that debacle recently and ran the other way. Not only is Pinnacle one of the worst regionals to work for, they sidestep proper payment by training you as an FO with awful first year FO pay until you finish IOE around 8 months later. They should be hiring you as a proper street CA first and paying accordingly from the start.

But as you can tell from a company who has blatantly defied court orders and dragged its feet on contract negotiations for better than 3 years, it's not a good move.

PSA upgrades at ATP mins. We will probably be hiring street CA or doing immediate upgrades by summer.
I wouldnt go that far..... Things are all places that go good and fast will slow down. If you think upgrades will go less then a year you are crazy. There is no movement at the majors and the fact of the matter is things are going to slow down. With posted on many threads already new hire classes have been postponed and delayed, hiring isnt happening etc...... To tell someone to go for a street captain job is crazy in the 1st place..... They might want to learn a little about the plane they are flying before trying to be the CA of it!

Question: Do the FO's that were hired prior to a street captain move past that Capt. in seniority when they upgrade? Thanks.

Seniority never changes. That FO is senior to the Street Captain, always. A street captain is hired into the company as a junior "newbie", just like whatever FO's are hired the same day, they just happen to qualify for Captain.

The seniority list is one big mix of CA's and FO's. The CA's aren't necessarily all at the top. Being a CA doesn't make someone senior. Only Date of Hire can give someone seniority.

I have been thinking about doing that. Of course it would only be worth it if you could get the upgrade pretty fast, 8 months at FO pay I would have to live in my car.

That said, if you're at the bottom of the list, what is the worst schedule you can get? Is reserve junior, or is it something else? What base is junior?

I can only tell you what I heard when I started looking into it seriously. My buddy passed me onto a current captain there. He told me the good, bad and ugly without preaching. Seems reserve turns into 8 days off a month with JMs. Add that to the strike vote and everything else and it seems a leap of faith to say the least.

I personally can't commit to another 2 years of reserve after the 2 I put in at Eagle. To those of you that have held a line after 1-2 months I assure you it changes you for the worse. I absolutely hated coming to work after about a year of reserve and getting abused. I hear that Pinnacle reserve is twice as bad as Eagle too. No thanks.

If Pinnacle would have been on the level and actually hired at CA pay I still may have considered it. However, the underhanded tactic of paying you FO pay for 6-8 months is just too big a pill to swallow and no doubt a harbinger of things to come.

I firmly believe that in the coming years TPIC will become a nice feather in your hat at the interview, but won't be necessary to get you that interview. Heck, it's partly there already. So becoming a whipping boy at Pinnacle isn't a necessary evil to further your career IMO.

IF you are from the freight world single pilot and thinking about being a street captain at the regional level. Remember your fo is part of the crew and not a box with a face drawn on for you to talk to.

Ok Wilson, I try to fly pretty much standard. I'm really laid back. Oops, I like to have the TOLD card put right here. And if you could, fill out the ATIS with a Sharpie. Yeah, and let me just help you with setting that power. Ok. Wilson? Where are you going? Wilson? WILLLSSSOONNN!!!

Hey it's been great flying with you.

I just got laid off from Aloha when we shut down, and just for kicks looked up the regionals pay.

Hawaii's unemployment insurance pays $523 per week. Say 4 weeks per month = $2092. I added up PCL's newhire FO pay. At 75 hours of guarantee, it comes out to $1575.

Is that correct? I mean, do you guys go over your guarantee and if so, by how much?

Also, can someone post a "street captain" path at PCL?

Just curious. Appreciate the responses!

I recently saw an ad for Mesaba hiring street captains.

Hmmm, the link is back up at the site. We were all under the impression that the street thing was done as there aren't and haven't been any saab vacancies in a few months.

I don't know, but might be worth a call for someone looking-it is captain pay from day 1 of class.
