FWIW, we have a cleaning service. I'm a pilot and my wife's an FA. We have 4 kids. The last thing we want to do on our precious off days is clean house. $75 every two weeks is a small price to pay!

Well, with the two of you working and 4 kids, I can understand but $75 EVERY OTHER WEEK????? Dude, I am waaaay too cheap for that. Seriously, I am cheap (frugal is more like it but saying I'm cheap sounds funnier to me). :D

By the way, what do you do for scheduling? Do you do opposite schedules? Drop trips?

Sometimes we work opposite schedules, sometimes the grandparents help us out. Luckily, they live nearby.

Umm, yeah, anyhow, back to aviation...

Mega, just wait until that little bundle comes along. Then you may rethink spending your down time cleaning up. I wish I could find a cleaning service for $75. Mine is $115 a week. :bawling: Still beats doing it myself though!

Hi!

I am the flying guy, normally 10-25 days on, and then a block of days off. My CEO has a great job and makes more than I do.

She likes the house very picked up, and it is relatively big (we have 2 grade school kids who do help around the house).

When I'm home, I basically take over the house, so she can just work (unless I'm doing some "manly" job like putting in flooring-then she does the house so I can concentrate on that job).

We have a cleaning service in once every two weeks at $100/pop.

My CEO is glad I went to the bigger plane here and now have 13 days off/month.

If you are having domestic issues-All you can do is Try. Don't give up.

God Bless

I dunno girl....I just wasn't raised to have a cleaning lady....I'd be cleaning up for the cleaning lady!

We live in a society that outsources. Just like our airlines, as families, we outsource.

Turn on the TV and watch commercials, which sell time. Fast prep foods, products that (perceive) to make jobs completed faster.. Like the ol' Boston Market Commercial. The woman states "how do I keep my kitchen so clean?...... I use Boston Market!!"

It is even tempting for stay at home moms and Dual Income No Kids (DINKS) to get wrapped up in the outsourcing... we are a product of our culture...

We even outsource our parenting.

I'm going to guess that you have another article that states that women are better suited to clean the house too. Does your wife do that too? I spend our money any way I choose and I have no intention of ever cleaning my house. Why should I? Its actually worse now, when my kids were small I kept a livein housekeeper because they were so messy ( guess what? She also cooked for us) you guessed it, I can't cook either. We order in every night now or he grills.....but my kitchen looks amazing from lack of use.

Go ahead Rez, tell me how my children are going to be negatively affected for life. Poor things never saw their mother clean the toilet or cook a meal, they are doomed.

$37.50 a week to clean the whole house? Sh!t, dogg, I'm IN!! YGBSM!

Spend that time you would be cleaning and take the kids on the boat. Take the kids to school and take the wife to tunatown. Nice.....:pimp:
