I wish the airlines would just cut the crap and post their freaking real life minimums. I am tired of this crap with the minimums not really being the minimums, but needing much more. Just post what you want so people like me can stop wasting our time filling out applications and sending resumes until we reach what is "really" required.

:( - YEAh - sniff sniff.........LOL

Shrek, I am glad you are amused. I am not, I spent 55 dollars and a whole day filling out all the crap on airlineapps, specifically for Spirit. The reason is that I meet the stated minimums. If the CP is saying that 1000 PIC is required then they need to post that. I don´t need to waste my time or money focusing on places that are not going to look at my application.

Do you really think that with thousands of overqualified pilots on the street (or at least in the US) that an A319/321 carrier will look at you without 1000TPIC. Dude, please. Unless you have some major connections GOOD LUCK to you........oh yeah let me know how it goes.

If you've got an internal recommendation, the posted minimums are sufficient. For what it's worth, I'll suggest that you learn a little more about the way the game is played; doing so might help you avoid frustration.

Airlines hire according to their needs. They decide what the want, we don't decide what they want. I happen to know a little about Spirit and I can tell you that your flight time is but a small part of what is reviewed.

I'll leave you with this, you may not get interviewed if you apply. And - you WILL NOT get interviewed if you don't apply. There are other -motivated pilots who will get hired.

Sincerely man, keep on plugging, keep your head on straight, don't let the system get you down. I'll try and find time later to let you in on some of the things you can do to increase your chances at Spirit.

sorry for the disjointed post. In years past, I'd never hit send. In today's world, I just don't have time for multiple re - writes.

Look guys, I know how the game is played. I meet the mins, I just want a fair shake. I know that chances are I am not going to get hired at mins. I just want the mins to be realisticly stated. If they want 1000 TPIC, then they should post that on their jobs page. It would save me the money that I spent to apply. As for recommendations, not a one. I screwed up and went to a carrier without captain turnover. I stuck it out and upgraded and I am getting my TPIC, I just don´t know anyone except at the regionals. The only people to leave here are the FO's. I am just venting my frustrations a little, because after 3 years here I am finally meeting minimums, but not getting anywhere. It is looking like I am going to have to start over at a regional, and the thought of that disgusts me.

Taken off the Spirit Careers webpage:

Please note these are our minimum requirements; most applicants exceed these standards.

As was said before, minimums today may not be tomorrow. Why has this not been reflected? Maybe the interview-powers-that-be don't want to discourage someone that may not meet these qualifications but excel in other areas? Maybe this is the "flavor of the week" and may be dropped as soon as the supply of qualified applicants is diminished? Who knows...

BUT, as was said, you're darned sure not going to get an interview by not applying. I didn't meet them (nor did a few in my class) and I got in. Yes, I knew someone. Maybe you'll meet someone tomorrow that you befriend that happens to know the CP really well (happens often here)?

As for the "I've been with my crappy regional for THREE whole years and don't have a pot to piss in" stuff? Lose it, man. There are many more people who have done more of that time than you that are trying to better their career as well (Six years and two regionals for me). The last guy to get the job is the one who feels he is owed it.

just my two cents...
